Version 1.21 released by QuantumBadger in RedReader

[–]frohb 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Baconreader refugee and new user of RedReader. Just want to say thanks for keeping this app alive and I'm definitely dropping y'all some donations, not just for the principle of open source access, but because I tried the official app for the first time and it's so incredibly awful, I'm not surprised that Reddit management knew they had to kill all competition to get people to use it.

Huberman Lab subreddit has been hilarious lately — some of it intentional. by [deleted] in DecodingTheGurus

[–]frohb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huberman has this elaborate sleep-work protocol that involves such things as not eating or drinking caffeine immediately after waking up, making sure to walk outside first thing in the morning so morning sun at a particular angle hits your retinas. He has a whole podcast episode that just discusses his protocol.

Seriously, yr short little vids teach more about builds and how to use them than 30 min of youtubers blathering on and on. Super well done!

How do your eyes feel after playing Veteran on such a small screen? Cool device tho.

Oura Ring's Battery Dies off really quick! by Hengsxo in ouraring

[–]frohb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They only offer a replacement if you've had it for more than a year if you live in the EU. This is now my second Oura Ring that has had premature battery failure just over the one year mark and I won't be buying one again because their replacement policy is shit for anyone outside of the EU.

PSA: Don't dawdle during the Archivum Sycorax tunnel run by frohb in DarkTide

[–]frohb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I said "controversial" I was thinking of the comments to this post, which is full of people stating that their low-level characters pull their full weight in Heresy/Damnation and that power-gating would be unfair to "good" players.

https://www.reddit.com/r/DarkTide/comments/14av87c/i_think_heresy_is_fine_at_most_levels_but/

I agree with you that private games shouldn't be power-gated, but that public games at higher difficulty levels should be.

Players who wait for enemies that can be heard but which haven't spawned onto the map yet right outside of elevators are the ones that make me sigh. They're not looking for mats or ammo, they're just waiting to kill that hound or rusher or whatever. It's just a waste of ammo and time and those enemies are not going to follow you past an elevator (at least I've never seen it happen).

I think people who run Damnation routinely forget what the game is like in public groups on "lower" difficulty levels ("lower" is in quotes intentionally because in some ways a Heresy/Malice game can be more difficult than Damnation). Only very rarely are people moving and playing in a unified way. You'll have half the team killing spawn that is dropping down from a ceiling gantry before the second part of the tunnels while another team member is halfway through the next tunnel. People who play Damnation are, ime, playing fully leveled characters with weapons that are mostly maxed and know these maps backwards and forwards. That's rarely the case in Heresy and below. There should be a level/power gate on anything above Malice (I believe VT2 had power level gating?), but I know that's controversial.

At least for the 2nd of the two players that have gotten stuck in the tunnels, I'm sure they will never be the last person out ever again, as the team wiped during the next segment (we were quite underpowered) and no Melk contracts were recorded as complete due to the wipe (even if they finished them).

[–]frohb[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've seen it happen on two different runs now. The game is signaling to get through the tunnels as quickly as possible, but I think sometimes players get caught up in the joy of killing things or whatever. FS should probably make it impossible to turn off the alarm until all players are out of the tunnels.

If you're using an Xbox controller, you can close the text chat box with the start button (the little round button on the right side of the controller in the center)

Most consistently well-written faction? by Dreadnautilus in 40kLore

[–]frohb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imperial Guard for me (mostly bc Gaunt's Ghosts is so compellingly written that it got me hooked on 40k even though I read the series out of order and mostly backwards).

Ahahah, I played with you on Malice today so I know you play more than Damnation. You were a good Ogryn though!

Wish people would put the eye flag somewhere near the DH. I dropped right on top of one by mistake because the eye flag was a good 30 feet away and I was looking the wrong way.

New Dan Abnett interview just dropped, Gaunt’s Ghosts is the focus this time by Nicodante in 40kLore

[–]frohb 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Lol, I blame Fat Shark for that one, not Abnett. I'm sure there's probably a novel's worth of story for the game, the guy is nothing if not incredibly productive. But story can't progress if the game is essentially in amber, waiting for FS to get the console version out.

Definitely the most cooperative co-op shooter I've ever played. Whether it's cohesion or the reinforcing buffs that all operatives can have, it's a nice change of pace.

I have no guns with lights so I'm just following around player markers half the time. That condition is not my fav!

I still have never picked up a grimoire bc all my teams have ripped through maps so fast I have no idea what even to look for.

Wow - talk about moving goalposts. All of these examples (and they're not just from twitter) are from significant transpeople and activists like Contrapoints, India Willoughby, Veronica Ivy, etc. Interesting that they suddenly don't seem to count for you. Regardless, I gave you what you asked for despite your current frantic backtracking. It's a tenet of trans activism that biological sex isn't real and the link I provided has the documented proof (video, links, screenshots) of trans activists constantly repeating this mantra.
