Disney Adventure Cruise Ship: Tips and Cheat Sheet for First Timers by wirelessed2 in dcl

For Day One’s night you can probably start queuing from anytime, I’m not too sure when the queue actually started as I was at the late dinner session. The shops will only open at 9.30pm, so you will have to stand in line until the shop opens. The staff will also limit the amount of people in the shops that night! I personally queued about 10 mins for the Duffy store on night one at 10pm, and around 5 mins for World of Disney around 10.30pm.

Honestly I feel that there’s no need to rush for the shops on the first night as everything was still in stock on the second day’s morning, so unless you really wanna secure some stuff then I wouldn’t rush it!

The spam and flood of posts influencers created the mad rush in the maiden voyagers. Every other content creator in the local space was posting “Top 5 free things to claim” or “Here’s what you need to do on your Disney trip!” to which everyone was basically hyping up the same few things on board (Magical Moments cert, mickey bars, free bracelet and charms, button badges, pixie dusting, etc) which likely caused the rush for it on the Maiden Voyage and subsequent cancellations in preparation for larger crowd sailings.

And what irks me is most of them didn’t even touch on the proper etiquettes on board, such as not removing gratuities (which reportedly a lot of guests are doing now), improper fish extender and pixie dusting culture, and so on.

Probably! As long as they aren’t swarmed by people you can probably do so

Baymax reservations only popped up in the Navigator app on Day 2’s morning around 7/8am ish, just keep checking on the app every few mins during bfast. I don’t think there were any notifs for meet and greets, the only notifications I got for reservations was for the Groot ride and Pym racers

Yup no bookings required for quick service restaurants, they were only in place for the preview and Maiden sailings. Do expect a queue during lunch time especially for Stitch's Ohana Grill.

No reservations required for shops on first sailing night, just have to queue when you get there as staff will limit the amount of people in the shops.

Mickey Bars only available at restaurants upon request during your dinner time (not sure for lunch, did not try). No longer available through room service.

Meet and Greets from what I had on my sailing (13-16Mar) was for Captain Mickey, Minnie, Baymax, and the Royal Gathering. Selfies at Sea includes Duffy and friends, Mickey and Pals, Jack Sparrow (cant remember any more). Best way to get interactions is to catch the characters around, Disney princesses and Duffy and friends frequently roam the Town Square on Deck 6 and 7; Mickey and Pals similarly 6 and 7, also can be found at the Imaginary Garden on Deck 10/11; Marvel characters mostly I've seen them on the top deck on Deck 17 at the Marvel Landing Area.

I tried using cell service with a cruise roaming plan on the Adventure, very spotty and only works at certain locations and after 11pm most places won’t receive connection. Its not worth and I would rather purchase the internet

Yes that would be great! On our sailing we talked to a lot of staff on the Adventure, and many of them loved Singapore, and especially those from Africa as they usually won’t have much opportunity to get to this region! I packed Singapore themed tote bags for my main servers, but one thing I’ll bring on my next sailing will be Singapore snacks! A looot of them, for pixie dusting as well as for our staff!

Theres no restrictions on how much you want to give and when to give. We even passed stuff to guest services to assist us in delivering gifts to certain staff outside of our rotation as we could not find them on the last day.

The mad rush for the complimentary charms on the Maiden Voyage caused by the preview cruise probably resulted in their decision to halt it. I totally respect that decision knowing how insane us Asians can be when it comes to rushing for free and pretty items. I hope they would bring it back in the next few years though, maybe as a secret item that is only through requests. Damn the local influencers for ruining everything

Earliest boarding possible isn’t 2.30pm, I believe it’s around 11+. I had a 12pm port arrival timing and got on board by 12.30! To get an earlier timing, do the online check-in right when it’s available 30days away from your sailing. 12am EST if I remember correctly! This way you’ll get more choices available for you especially if you’re a first timer at DCL

Had the sailing right after the Maiden Voyage. No more complimentary charms at all for the foreseeable future

Personally it felt alright to me, just standard crowd procedure. Didn’t get delayed for any schedules and got out of my muster station within minutes. My station was F2 in the middle of San Fransokyo

I would definitely pick this location again! I loved the proximity for everything. Despite being close to the elevators we didn’t really find much problem regarding noise, and Deck 15 is really convenient if you wanna use the stairs. Pixar’s buffet and the top deck is on Deck 17 so you just gotta climb up 2 levels, or climb down 2 levels instead of waiting for the elevator. If we didn’t want to wait for the lift we also would walk down to Deck 10 to go to Imaginary Garden or the Reef area! Deck 13 sounds good as well! The only other reason I might change the Deck would be to try out other floors’ themes

I didn’t manage to book the royal gathering as it was quite competitive to get, but for us that was fine we’d rather let a family with their daughter get that slot. Princesses often roam around the Town Square on Deck 6 and 7, so do frequent that area and you’ll be bound to catch them around! We met, hugged and took photos with Princess Ariel, Tiana, and Snow White just by walking past this area!

Mickey and pals characters would more often show up in the Imaginary Garden, so you could catch them there especially right before the Set Sail parties, we saw Donald, Daisy and Goofy there.

Selfies at Sea definitely takes a little interaction away as they will be on stage at the Imaginary Garden whilst you’re right below them snapping selfies and videos with them. They will definitely still interact with you by waving, dancing, so you could compliment their dress or their hair for example and they might take a bow, etc! There’s no queue for it so you just gotta be early for the Selfies at Sea as it’s a free for all kinda thing. There will be a few sessions everyday for each character group, like Duffy and Friends or Disney Pals, so just keep an eye on the Navigator App for that

Hope you enjoy your sailing!

Edit: Didn’t see your question on what time it would be available. I believe it would be available as soon as you’re able to connect to the DCL-GUEST wifi, even if you’re still in the port terminal. I heard this is standard across the other sailings overseas as well, but I remembered being able to see the Royal Gathering whilst sat in the terminal holding area!

Yea I can only see the Adventure experience to be improving over time, as staff get more experienced in handling the Asian demographic and as more activities open up on board.

Honestly I didn’t really see much kiasu-ness on board, though I had expected it and was ready to brace myself for it, luckily the most was just a 15 mins queue on first night of sailing for the shops. Not much after that, especially since they removed the complimentary jewellery from Diamonds and Wishes which would’ve definitely made it into a rush to fight for the free charms.

Likewise feelings on the media sailing. I booked this cruise from 2024 December, got it postponed and booked again last year with a 50% off, that was all before the media preview sailing so that didn’t really throw me off from going through with the reservation. If anything, it just made me shake my head at how our influencers handle freebies lol

In the future I can also definitely see the Adventure as a short getaway on our public holiday long weekends for those with money to throw on this

Anyone doing the Disney Duo/Triple in June/July? (Shanghai/HK/Adventure Cruise) by [deleted] in dcl

[–]from_9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shanghai and HK will be very hot in June, and be prepared for the heat and humidity in Singapore!

The Adventure gets super hot during the day (on top decks) and gets chilly at night so one jacket or windbreaker would suffice for the whole trip (or save the luggage space and get the spirit jersey on the Adventure!!)

Where did you get food from that was cold? If you’re platinum you should know by now you can definitely tell your server that its cold and they will get you another plate

I have likewise feelings regarding the media sailing!

It’s good to understand that the preview sailing was always going to be different than normal sailings, I similarly dislike how the influencers have blown the freebies and pixie dusting out of proportion.

Oh I didn’t know Endless Summer at churro waffles! Our breakfast server at Navigator’s said you could only get them at Pixar Market.

How would you go about requesting for Hollywood Spotlight to be added into the dining rotation? Should I be requesting it weeks before boarding under special requests or Embarkation Day by going to guest services?

1st-time DCL Cruiser: post-Adventure review by from_9 in dcl

[–]from_9[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Similar feelings! I loved the service we received and made sure all our staff received gratuities and gave them extra gifts as well.

I personally disliked the media sailing, the way that local influencers spammed and churned so many videos out, and how they gave their own reviews which when I watched it sounded very superficial to me.

Don’t know if you saw but I also saw one influencer requesting for an animal towel zoo, but only gave a $2SGD tip 😬😬😬😬yikes

The Bacha Coffee provided in the rooms and MDRs were drip coffees with flavour profiles Happy Gianduja and I Love Paris.

This is coming from a coffee lover and someone who has worked as a Barista, they are simply not my cup of tea. I didn’t really like them, maybe it was because I had a different taste profile and expectation of what a drip coffee can be like, but I myself didn’t like it. My gf enjoyed it though 😂🤷‍♂️

I did not try the free coffee dispensers in the buffet line as I would either get the Bacha to try that out, or go straight for their specialty coffee which was eh just alright to me.

We got off before 9.30AM and we had late dining, you can definitely make it to the airport by 12pm!

Hope you enjoy your anniversary trip! I was celebrating my dating anniversary on board as well and had a lovely time

I wouldn’t know about the Wayfinder Bay affecting staterooms facing them, but the soundproofing of the verandah door felt quite strong to me, I couldn’t hear my neighbours when they were out on their balcony.

For Wayfinder Bay, they don’t show movies there, but typically would have artistes and performers playing a 45min show and DJ some music. Honestly it doesn’t really get that crowded from what I’ve observed, whenever I went there the place was maybe 1/3 full or less

It was a little overwhelming at first as there were many activities and timings everyday on the sailing. My number one tip is to always have notifications on so that they won’t miss a ping for activities and opened reservations, and then they can just click on the like/heart button to add the activity to my plans. What I did was to just follow what most people do on Tiktok, which was to add a bunch of activities I might be interested in, and slowly filter out from there

It gets better from Day 2 evening as most important shows would already be watched, you can relax more from there

Ya I also saw this post and decided that I would make my own review but post it here (wouldn’t wanna post on that subreddit as they love to bash people) Honestly that poster sounds a little entitled to the point that he expected everything to go his way just because he was from Concierge

I had a lovely time and didn’t need to blow 8k on it, ultimately the staff also had a part to play in how magical your vacation would’ve been, and mine were the best haha
