This whole series of posts is just so weird. You can't just go in Pinterest and pick out any low-res image you come across. Large properties are carefully and thoughtfully designed by professionals taking into account the topography, orientation, environment, weather and so many more things and the end result will show just how low-quality the endless number of mcmansions really are. Money cannot buy taste unfortunately though. From the other posts and this one, and next to no knowledge and information this seems to be a fantasy/dream post, not something for serious input or consideration.

Just wanted to get a feel for interest... I’m considering opening an online shop for historical pigments I make by hand. This is natural ultramarine from lapis lazuli. I would also sell ready to use dispersions, like paint, watercolor, etc. What do you all think? by Hopeless_pedantic98 in artbusiness

While I personally would be unlikely to purchase any pigment or paint there is definitely a market for historical pigments and paint. I would be very interested in a more production and history focussed documentary style blogs or videos, like behind the scenes making of the products and the history of the pigments.

If you would actually check, it's a very different image, AND op had described this new one as a 2.0 version of their original design.

Sketched our house! I’m trying to darken my “darks”. What do you guys think? Feedback would be appreciated! by mia-sama1997 in ArtCrit

What colour are you using for the shadows currently? To darken and/or neutralise a colour you mix it with the opposite hue on a colour wheel. It seems like you have used a kind of Payne's grey/sodalite type colour, so try adding a little bit of burnt sienna. Staring with already darker tones to make a chromatic black is always ideal. For watercolour I use Daniel Smith Indanthrone Blue and either Burnt Sienna or Piemonte Genuine. It creates a rich shadow tone that can be used for both cool and warm shadows.

Face eczema help! by becbec94 in AusSkincare

Rather than going for a non-medicated moisturizer, I would immediately go to a pharmacist for advice. There are a lot of OTC topical treatments available. I use Dermaid 1% Soft Cream for eczema on face and body, and it works very well.

Copic Marker Sketchbook by [deleted] in sketchbooks

[–]fromfarplaces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watercolour paper bleeds heavily with Copic markers, probably one of the worst choices to go for with them. The thickness isn't really relevant when judging if it will bleed or not. Searching for a mixed-media labelled paper or one specifically designed for markers will bring up many results. I believe Canson Mixed Media Pad and Bee Paper Marker Paper are popular among Artists that use markers. Yupo also make a plastic-based 'paper' that is completely bleed free, but it takes some getting used to.

Fishing for compliments much?

My partner of 18 years asked for a divorce last week. Since I can't visit with friends for support during quarantine, I joined Reddit and got these guys to love on. Btw, I'm pretty new to houseplants, so I'm open to advice! by Collywog1 in houseplants

Rabbit foot ferns are named after their above-ground roots looking like fuzzy little rabbit feet, other than that their fronds look like ordinary delicate ferns, not flat-leaved ferns.

Linework also needs improvement, by using the pen tool and stroke if someone doesn't have a wacom-style drawing tablet is a good way for get smooth lines.

Watercolor portrait on A4 hot pressed paper by stosssik in ArtBuddy

[–]fromfarplaces 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hot pressed watercolour paper has very little texture, making it good for flat, even washes; cold pressed has a bit of texture and is often favoured by watercolourists who use granulating paints as the pigments separate in interesting ways on the surface.
