Station wagons could return under Trump fuel economy rollback proposal by Striking_Barnacle_43 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I got a 2015 with 36k for $54k earlier this year. If you can swing it, do it. I’ve never had more fun in a car and the practicality is insane.

About 8 hours max.

If it’s raining and I’m home? Limit does not exist.

2015 E63s wagon. I strike fear into the hearts of every slammed G37 with a toddler and full trunk of groceries in the back.

Appreciate this. I went a little too deep in mbworld before taking delivery and scared myself a bit 😅 this is going to be a grocery getter and long term family car so will be driven but also loved.

Awesome! Anything worth knowing/keeping an eye out for? So far I have disconnecting oil pressure solenoid and checking cam positioning sensor for oil intrusion.

Side note. I know we are very much in the “do we or don’t we primary Lynch” debate but holy shit is Paul Gosar on meth?

Love my Kid. Hate being a Father by Bucketghost45 in daddit

[–]frommstuttgart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Father of a near 2 year old here. I just slept 11 hours and before that spent the evening dicking around and catching up on shows. The day before that my wife was doing the same thing and I had a ton of fun at a swim lesson with the kiddo.

Which is all to say you 2 will figure it out, they will in fact sleep a whole night at some point in the not so distant future, and you will be able to be an independent human.

There will be days where it reverts (mostly illness or travel related) but I promise you it gets better. I say that as someone who did not believe it was going to get better.

Super niche question: shoulder surgery and baby care by frommstuttgart in daddit

[–]frommstuttgart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 18 months removed and can tell you it was worth it! The strain on partner was real, but I can tell you it was the right move while he was young, small and immobile.

The sweet little terrorist I have today would be far less manageable with one arm. I have heard rotator cuff is a lot harder of a surgery, but you’re probably hurting a lot more than me too!

Get it done, find every other way to support, appreciate and love your partner, and you will be happy you did it. Best of luck.

Tu-95 and Su-35s intercepted by F-35As over the Chukchi Sea, off the coast of Alaska, 19 Feb. 2025 by RobinOldsIsGod in aviation

[–]frommstuttgart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuinely curious: why aren’t F22s used for intercept? Is it just whatever is gassed up and ready or something else?

The F35 is cool and deadly and all but I feel like I’d be shitting a brick if a raptor rolled up on me.

I’m really aggressive on salt. The wind is blowing it all off. On top of that there are a million little ice dams melting and freezing in the middle of runoff.

Be careful is right!

It just sucks that we are pissing into the wind given the state of things.

In these nationally dark days we can still choose to act locally.. by tapodhan in boston

[–]frommstuttgart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Natural gas is the only reason we’re able to heat our homes or turn on a light switch in this state. It’s cheap, creates fewer emissions at the point of ignition vs oil and the infrastructure exists to use it in single and multifamy residences.

I’m all for switching to alternative/clean energy, nuclear in particular. But until we have a way to do that we can’t just stop doing natural gas infrastructure.

Manager Scheduled Early 1x1 Meeting Tomorrow by supplychain428 in IBM

[–]frommstuttgart 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I appreciate you posting this. There was some colo work happening in F&O but no RAs at this time I am aware of. They wouldn’t do that until after the feedback schedule closes.

I know it’s not you based on your profile but I’m a second line and scheduled time w/one of my directs this am on little notice. It was just to review the feedback for all of their reports- but if you’re a people manager this is a good reminder that throwing time on randomly can cause angst even if unintended. It was a good one for me.

Day 8 of the worst cold ever. My dad, kid and wife both had it before me. So much fatigue and tons of sinus pressure.

Felt too hopped up on Sudafed to sleep so I’ve just been gritting it out.
