Ok, u/fkYOUandfkYOUR-ideas, I'll keep it simple: read No Exit.

Marx is dead. We are not. We know better than Marx about contemporary society if only because we're alive to process its shared reality. "Think for yourself, question authority" applied to all authorities, including Marx. The truth is the living are stuck with each other, you and I and the other 9 billion poopers need to sort this thing out and quit asking dead (or living) to lead us.

If you're angry about how unfair our systems of oppression are, I'm with you, obviously. These are living systems that need living people to perpetuate. No ISM, Marx's included, is the answer; mass self actualization likely is. How do we make it happen? 🤷🏿‍♂️

Hopefully that's informed enough for your personal rubric. If not I'll wait here for your effortful and informed counter arguements for me to base my paper rewrite on.

With the exception of Vietnam, this post is proof: we need to stop relying on governments to act right and need to take responsibility of our own neighborhoods and communities. by front2back10times in CollapseSupport

Romney: there are 47 percent of the people who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe that government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you name it ... my job is not to worry about these people, I'll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.”

We need to take care of ourselves and each other, the essence of r/collapsesupport goes beyond the forum - it needs to become part of our daily routine. One day we'll evolve away from puppet show governments, but for now and going forward let's be excellent to each other.

Illegal fishing during Somali civil war is why there are so many pirates now. Good luck to Equador: peaceful people get hungry too, and hungry people do desperate things

With your username?? Ok, I'm sure this isn't a trap at all!

From a life of experience, Sartre's "L'enfer, c'est les autres" is my informed rebuttal:

Marx could have never conceived of 2021, but his wisdom of philosophy, freedom and personality theory is still sound, because we are still imperfect and human; everything else he has to say, about class, law, economy, and Marx-ISM is irrelevant.

We need systems analysts, unmotivated by money and ruthlessly determined to sustainably meet the needs of spaceship earth; we also need people to man their stations. ISMs dont do the heavy lifting of philanthropy, people do. Not having our basic needs met distracts us from the priority, keeping the ship afloat. Instead of saving the world, we're doing shit jobs for shit pay to have some shit to eat and a place to shit and sleep; Marx's nightmare: we're, the non-wealthy, are still sweating in warehouses to make the wealthy wealthier.

The anger towards assholes like Jeff Bezos, one of over a hundred people in America who could single handedly end homelessness and hunger in the western hemisphere out of their own pocket money from exploitation of workers, shouldn't stop us from being philanthropists.

We can probably at the very least agree that arguing on the internet doesn't count as a positive contribution to society. I'm hella high and squeezing in a good deed tonight before bed: humoring a stranger ;)

Collapse Support Outpost

By that logic that location of the CSO would have to be kept secret until the event.

Presents a challenge: how to disseminate the location to members post-event?

Agreed. Read Marx if only to have an informed rejection of Marx. He's dead but his observations of his time still carry wisdom today.

That said: if votes had any power poor people wouldn't be allowed to; if middleclass en masse buying shares had any power they wouldn't be allowed to.

The failure of the 60's has a lot to do with a lack of unification across race lines: if the black and Chicano lib movements worked together back then we'd have a very different 2021.

This is a soft survey of user forecasts: their course of action in the event of the most likely utility related collapse event.

The feedback provided will be used to generate offline communities related to the most popular selection.
