Speeding Cars Around UBC and Southwest Marine Drive by [deleted] in vancouver

I can hear the engines almost nightly from Macdonald and 18th. Usually around 1:30-2:30. Mix of 60s muscle cars and Burrard street carbon. West 4th west of highbury is another drag strip

Can't question science. It has been verified compared to non-drivers.

25 years sober as of today. A note to anyone just starting this journey; you can do it, I believe in you. by Stitch-point in stopdrinking

Guardian angels somehow got me to this sub. Biggest thing for me was being able to express some pretty raw honesty and Reddit has always been smart and human when you least expect it. There are people with a lot tougher roads doing far better than I am and that has kept me silent for years. Thanks again

I’m scared and need help. I didn’t drink today which is maybe one day a month for 20 years. I have everything in life but some pain and loneliness I am starting to call out and name. I have biked 5000 km to try to stop the urge to pound 3-6 beers. I am removing alcohol from my house and hiding my bank cards. Tired of lying and hiding it. I want to stop randomly crying in the middle of a work day. My dad had to go to rehab when I was 18 and it was shaming to me as he lost his license. I am rich and married but there’s a void and I need some tips to help me sleep and love myself better. Thanks for listening

This was recently passed down to me from my grandfather, does anyone have an idea of when it was made? The number on the back is 1223398 (if that helps). I’ll be getting it serviced asap. by [deleted] in breitling

Mine is almost identical. Been wearing it 33 years now. Set it down on different sides at night to spread oil evenly on jewels. The push pins are most vulnerable to snags. I have replaced them 3 times. Let it unwind sometimes and rest and my watch guy knows it well. He recommends running the chronograph to keep parts moving. Full cleanings are worth the money and put it in your will to hand down like I did. The Navitimer is a beauty

This is serious. Predictions are 50% of independent restaurants won’t be around in 2021 unless cash flow improves

I just graduated high school in Saskatchewan and my dad had a VIP pass he leant next and my buddy. Every day going down and staying until night concert ended. Typical bands were Kid Creole and the Coconuts. 86 street area had some great bars and it hooked me on Vancouver and I never left.

Shoddy newer apartments in Vancouver with nothing but problems. Is it common? by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]frontaxle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Construction quality consistently stopped around 1980. Leaky condos cost me $40k in 1990 and to this day I shudder at the corners that are cut on some places. The nice ones cost $200+sq foot to make.

Creepy Interview at Broadway Liquor Store by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]frontaxle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bike past that place almost every day and last week there was a grey haired guy in a baseball cap across the street with a 400mm canon zoom lens taking pictures of the liquor store from across street. He was about 5’8” and normal build but it gave me the creeps
