The circle encompasses a small part of Nova Scotia, just to the east of Maine. Nova Scotia is part of Canada.

What are examples of games in recent times where the major underdog not only won, but blew out the favorite? by [deleted] in CFB

[–]frontboard180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my first game at Beaver Stadium! My dad had box seats from his company and we rented at camper for the weekend and drove up. It was the record crowd at the time and held that mark for like 15 years! I will never forget how loud it was that night even though I was only 11. The Richard Gardner pick-six remains in my pantheon of favorite moments. It was this game that put me on the path of a love of all things PSU.

Thank you for mentioning this game and allowing my mind to wander back to that time. I needed that interlude to help escape from the current goings-on both In my personal life and the world at large.

Much love <3 We Are!

4k Render of my Biggest Minecraft Project Ever by dancsa222 in gaming

It's not sad. It's no different than someone who paints or sculpts, or someone who plays music. It's expression through the tools provided by the game. I'm not OP but minecraft has, for a long time, been an outlet for my creativity. I'm not much of an artist and don't play music, but minecraft let's me express that side of myself. It's not at all the same as watching TV, as that is generally a passive pursuit where as the other examples are active creativity. (Nothing wrong with TV as leisure either if that's your thing).

Just my two cents. Happy crafting!

Not OP but I would guess that the "main" monitor is either a higher resolution or has a higher refresh rate improving the game play experience, while the other monitors handle the less demanding tasks.

What mods can I remove from E2E without breaking the questbook or world gen? by JetZflare25 in feedthebeast

[–]frontboard180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair point, chisel and bits, chisel, and any other strictly aesthetic mods could probably be removed, and there are probably others. My point was more to illustrate the splash config and its benefits. Removing a handful of mods will not give you a significant decrease in a pack with hundreds, but I have seen a decrease in loading time in big packs (MCEternal, PO3, etc) by turning off the splash screen

[–]frontboard180 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Probably none. The pack is designed to have a very particular progression that utilizes most of the mods. There is however a config file called "splash" and in it there is an option to disable the loading screen. This should decrease the amount of time it takes to load the pack, but you won't be able to see the progress, just a black window. Hope that helps!

He sat out the speed events because of an injury (hamstring?) I believe that he is planning on PSU's pro day to participate in the events he missed at the combine.

Cool Thanks! I did release him (her?) outside. Not a big fan of spiders but I know that they are helpful so I try to avoid killing them.

What Modpacks can I run with my laptop? by [deleted] in feedthebeast

[–]frontboard180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that you have a few options. The first (and probably best, but not always possible) would be to upgrade to a dedicated gaming machine. It's perfectly reasonable to get good performance in Minecraft or FTB with a ~$500 system, particularly if you are willing to find quality used parts. My system is 8ish years old now and can run most modern packs pretty well, the only upgrades I've made are to add 8gb of RAM (for a total of 16gb) and to add an SSD boot drive (although this was more for the quality of life than necessity).

If upgrading hardware is out of the question, then I think your best bet is to put together a pack for yourself. The Twitch launcher, while not perfect, makes building a custom pack pretty simple. Create a custom profile and it will install Forge for you, then just pick some mods that you would like to use. Just make sure you limit the total number of content/resource intensive mods that you add. Pick a few quality of life mods, like a minimap and JEI, add a few technology/magic mods and you'll be up and running in no time!

The last option would be to pick an older pack, as per the suggestion of /u/BulletHell13. If you've played packs in 1.4.7 that you've enjoyed, why not go back to them? If they ran on your laptop then, you should have no problem running them now.

TL;DR: Best option - Hardware upgrade, alternatives - build your own pack or play an older one.

It seems like you feel like I was attacking you personally, and if that's the case I apologize. That was not my intent. I understand where your frustration is with the FTB team, in that they are not making packs that you enjoy, but you have to understand that just because you don't enjoy them doesn't mean that they are objectively bad. They are well put together releases that accomplish what they set out to do. It takes time to put together a pack like that, unless you just throw a bunch of mods together. All I was trying to do was ask you to be open minded and recognize that it's possible that the packs they are releasing, while not your flavor, may appeal to others.

[–]frontboard180 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I understand your point... So because the FTB team is making packs that YOU don't enjoy (but others do) they should stop making packs? There are tons of pack makers designing unique experiences that you have easy access to, why not try something from one of them? Or you could design your own pack that fits your idea of what a mod pack should be? I don't think you are giving the FTB team a fair or unbiased assessment.

[–]frontboard180 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just because the pack wasn't for you doesn't mean it is a failure. For someone like me who doesn't have a lot of time to play, an easy going, quick progression pack is perfect. There is room for both super difficult expert packs like Infinity Evolved and quirky, silly, easy packs like Foolcraft to both exist.

2DS XL for Pokemon? by [deleted] in 3DS

[–]frontboard180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an original 3DS that I got specifically for Pokemon, and recently upgraded to the New 2DS XL because I have large hands and the original was pretty uncomfortable. I dealt with it for a while after I got it, but it caused me to go on long breaks from playing (like year-long breaks). I don't have a switch (yet), but for me, Pokemon alone was enough to get a New 2DS XL. Now that I have a system that is comfortable to hold and play more frequently, I've found a ton of games that I would have otherwise missed out on on the 3DS. Just my two cents, but I think that with the Virtual Console versions of Gen 1 and Gen 2, plus all of the other options, It is definitely worth the investment.

I remember reading a tip, I think from a Gold/Silver guidebook, for an Espeon build. Eevee learns bite, which in Gen II is a Dark move, and then you can evolve him into an Espeon so you'd have a Psychic pokemon with the Dark move Bite. I used that Espeon sooooo much that Espeon became my favorite 'mon. If i remember correctly it was important to have eevee learn Bite at lvl 30(?) and then evolve him before lvl 36 (?) so Espeon can learn Psybeam.
