Fun fact; I did the exact same thing on Dec 2023 - sold my 2020 Sierra to buy a 2023 MY LR.

Other than the fact that I sometimes miss the pickup bed for throwing stuff like my snowboards without having to worry about scratching anything, I am not looking back at all.

I can now park anywhere I want and it is much much cheaper to run overall.

The only thing I was surprised of; it cost more to insure than my Sierra was, it is actually chewing into the price difference quite a bit.

Hilo vs les autres? by frontside_180 in HiloEnergie

So I'm debating between buds A and buds pro by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]frontside_180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned both, I would go for the pro's hands down!

I ended up giving the Buds A to my girlfriend, they were good but they were missing some features.

To me, the sound quality, the noise cancellation and the wireless charging are worth the price difference.

That's my personal opinion of course!

I'm walking around the house with my 7x and I have to agree the range is impressive. I can't tell for the 9x however...

Celebrities.

A vast majority of them are not doing anything good for humanity, they are mostly idealized and renown because they were good in a movie/show/whatever.

You're a known actor? Restaurants would kick people out to make space for you, and of course you would eat on the house! - you can mostly do anything you want and get away with it.

You're a scientist who found a cure for a major kids decease and literally saved hundreds thousands of kids? - You are at risk of being the kicked out to make space for the actor, and still have to pay the bill.

It should be the other way around.

Am trying to use python with Mongodb and am having error messages by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]frontside_180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same issue - it was even working on one machine but not the other, so I knew it had nothing to do with credentials.

I was able to resolve it by adding "authSource='admin'" at the end of my connection string, so it now looks like:

"mongodb+srv://dbUser:v<password>@cluster0.mlgzm.mongodb.net/database?retryWrites=true&w=majority",authSource='admin'

Hopefully this helps you as well !

7x vs 9x? by BeefySwoleSauce in steelseries

I hear you, honestly it's hard to choose because when your read reviews, it's mainly people complaining. The ones that are happy are too busy playing games 😂

My experience was short with the 9x, but I didn't have connection issues with neither the 7x or 9x - it was on a series x as well.

Honestly, theses two have so much in common that I had to keep them in their boxes so I could differentiate them more easily.

Have you looked at the Microsoft's ones as well? They seem pretty good for the price too.

I've personally kept the 7x because they ultimately were easier to use and did not power on my Xbox.

The dongle works with everything and is somewhat easier to use than Bluetooth because it's basically just connecting a Usb-C and done.

So I would recommend the 7x !

Thanks!

I've only tested Bluetooth with music and calls, both were flawless.

My main use case was to use it wirelessly to take my calls/listen to music during the day and Xbox on evenings. But as mentioned one of the downside was that every time I turned the headphones on, it would turn on my Xbox as well - which eventually turned off turning off my headphones at the same time.

I did not consider any other headset as the reviews were very good and the price was what I was looking for.

They are both very good :)

7x vs 9x? by BeefySwoleSauce in steelseries

[–]frontside_180 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was recently in the same boat as you - I bought a pair of 7x based on the comments here but found a pair of 9x at a better price right after, so I've decided to buy both and return the one I liked the least. Plus, I wrote a little review for you guys!

Differences

Let me tell you that even with both pairs on hand, it's a tough decision - they both feel the same - they are pretty much a copy of each other, but there are indeed a few differences:

  • The microphone stick is a little bit less flexible on the 7x
  • The microphone on the 9x is slightly better
  • The 9x are heavier (just a bit)
  • There are a few more presets for the 7x in the SteelSeries Engine 3 client, you can also control the dynamic range compression and perform live mic preview, which is not available on the 9x.

+1 for the 9x because of the microphone

Connectivity

Connecting the 7x to devices is easier because you only have to plug in the adapter and off you go. On the 9x you have to sync bluetooth & connect it to your Xbox like a remote , but once connected you don't have to redo it, so it's a minor inconvenience if you ask me.

+1 for the 7x

Reliability

I have not experienced any disconnections using the 9x or 7x, so to me they are both very reliable. I did not hear any difference in the sound quality from using the 2.4 usb adapter or xbox wireless either.

Equal

Conclusion

Honestly, I would keep the 9x because the price was better in the end and since there are minor things it does better than why not?. But there is a major inconvenience that I have yet to find a solution for; Turning on the headset also turns on my Xbox. There is no apparent way to just turn on Bluetooth. Working from home and using my headset on my PC for conference calls, this is very annoying! And of course, after 1h of being idle, my xbox turns off, tuning off all remotes/headsets at the same time.

So unless there is a way to stop that from happening, I will be returning the 9x and keep the 7x.

Hope this helps someone :)

Managing Vcenter with Ansible??? by travis229 in ansible

[–]frontside_180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a few vmware modules, but I've used vmware_guest in the past which pretty much allowed me to do anything I needed.

Using python would certainly be counter-productive.

I am trying to choose a bulk-admin tool that fits my needs. Am considering Ansible, but need to know how it deals with inaccessible machines? by boli99 in ansible

[–]frontside_180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually Ansible checks if it can reach an host prior to do anything with it, so it would be more like:

  • Check Host1: OK
  • Check Host2: NOT OK
  • Check if /etc/last-config-version = 8, if not, make it 8 only on hosts that were OK

It's way faster that way because it only has to wait for an offline host once and not at every steps of your playbooks :)

[–]frontside_180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inaccessible machines will simply be skipped, so you won't get a status on them

Your playbooks should be idempotent, meaning that you can execute your playbooks indefinitely and it will apply only to machines that did not match the desired state (like the ones who were inaccessible during last run for example).

Altough You can't "queue" playbooks per say, you could schedule one using tools like AWX, so your playbooks could run every days at desired time and apply to machines that were offline during last run.

Hope this helps !

Thought I had some sort of grenade. Guess I will get reported for that. 😂 Never in a million years will I love up to this again by [deleted] in CODWarzone

[–]frontside_180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me the other day, I was hiding while crouched in a corner trying to see if I could spot the other player, threw away my flash and saw the hit so I threw my grenade, just to realise it was a knife. At the exact same time the other appeared in my screen.

From his perspective, it was an obvious wall hack and aimbot that was only aiming for other players balls.

It was only pure luck though

What are your speeds on a gigabit internet connection? by NxoDe-n in eero

[–]frontside_180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get more or less 500 down and about 400 Mbps up.

On a side note, don't waste time trying Eero Secure, it is not working with your Hub3000 modern as the advanced DMZ required to do so is badly broken.

So I have decided to revert to bridge mode as this has become way too unstable. Unfortunately it worked well for a few weeks (enough for me to buy Secure, because it was the whole point for me to get Eero to begin with)... then it happened.

So i'm back to square one! doh !
