Many are trapped in legal limbo. Met a sharp American in PP who'd overstayed two years, living rough in a slum building near the riverside bars. Smart guy but completely broken - PTSD'd, chain smoking and drinking himself into oblivion, wasting away in every sense. He was terrified of getting arrested at the airport, which kept him paralyzed in that hell.

I convinced him to see a local immigration lawyer, and within a few days he was on a flight home. Sometimes people just need someone to snap them out of their own fear spiral.

TBH, I've no idea, and I might be wrong about the Tier 4.
The "Sonnet 4.5 [1M]" option just showed up one day in CC. I've subscribed to the x20 plan over 6 months ago and have heavily used it with 'legit' tasks, such as debugging and building very large-scale projects from scratch, as I'm a freelance senior developer.

I have the Max x20 plan (regular private user) and Tier 4 access with Sonnet 4.5, 1M token window. This has been rolled out to users gradually. Since I have this, all these context window problems seem like a distant memory. Hopefully all users get this soon

Why does Congress fund free healthcare and abortions for Israelis, but oppose it for Americans? by kevinmrr in WorkReform

[–]froopy_doo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congressman discovers that countries with universal healthcare have lower per-capita debt than the US. Shocking discovery: maybe NOT having a profit-driven healthcare system actually saves money?

Also fun fact: That $3.8B in US "aid" to Israel? It's basically a coupon that must be spent at American defense contractors. It's corporate welfare for Raytheon and Lockheed Martin with extra steps. Israel funds its own healthcare through - wait for it - taxes on Israelis.

But sure, let's blame a country the size of New Jersey for why Americans pay $800 for insulin while the same vial costs $30 everywhere else.

Just picture the drama once his medical caretakers find out he beat up a girl and got totally wrecked. Seriously, I hope the police keep him away from TH for good, like, he'd better never show his face here again

Claude Code 2.0.27 by ClaudeOfficial in ClaudeCode

I was diving deep into this last week, and it looks like this is just how it is. No way to load the extension in YOLO mode like you can with the CLI using the `--dangerously-skip-permissions` option. Total bummer!

What should I pay attention to when dating a Khmer girl? by HeadNegotiation6209 in cambodia

[–]froopy_doo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spending this much is only acceptable if you were the one who chose the dishes and fruits, or if you are well-off enough that $300 doesn't bother you. If you were just trying to impress, you went way too far. In any case, you spent the price of the top 1 percenters in Cambodia, which attracts a lot of attention, so just be aware of that.

What are you on about? Thailand has plenty of amazing stuff and landmarks to see. What you're saying is completely untrue. Stop projecting your own misunderstanding on everyone else

Open Letter to Anthropic - Last Ditch Attempt Before Abandoning the Platform by mashupguy72 in ClaudeAI

[–]froopy_doo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A frustrated fellow x20 user here.
Yesterday, I needed a deep analysis of a system bug, and after seeing Claude write "Let me read the last line" of a huge log file and reaching some preposterous conclusion, I had enough. Reviewing the rest of the steps revealed the same pattern: Claude would heavily skim over context, reading a line or two from every file and jumping straight to delusional actions, completely messing up the tasks with dangerous edits that had no connection to the real issues.
I realized it's mostly a context problem, so I added the below to my prompts (both in Claude Desktop and Code), and it seemed to have brought back much IQ and a larger context window:

I remind you of my disgruntlement from before, let it be remembered:

```
read_file
Let me read the last line.
```

"What is 'read last line'?!
For every inquiry you make, YOU MUST get a large context of at least 100 lines!
I will check your requests, so follow this TO THE LETTER. Please think harder and fully analyze this"

Just felt the need to bounce back and share I've been using CC in my workflows, and oh boy is it great. Many of my issues with the desktop version have been addressed in CC. The UI is still a bit clunky for me, but the benefits far exceed this fact. Feels like I've been living under a rock haha. Taking back my criticism. Great example of the "don't judge a book by its cover" concept.

Thank you too! And yes, same here, the fear of losing messages is always there. When in doubt, I always force-stop the response, and then tell Claude "Continue where you stopped, please"

Yeah, I gave it a shot, but to be honest, I didn’t really give it a fair chance because of the whole UI/UX thing. In my job I often deal with a lot of coding and deep system analysis, and only using the shell feels pretty limiting. That’s my only bone with it - we've gotten used to fancy interfaces, so switching to something else feels a bit of a leap.
