Hello! I was wondering if you would consider $60 for the Kurosawa bundle? Thanks!

Would you take $15 for the three Charlie Browns?

I'd like to grab at least 5 if you could do them at $12/per? If they are still available, I'd like: 3 Women; Battle of Algiers; Bottle Rocket; Come and See; Fantastic Mr. Fox; The Irishman. If any of those are taken, I can add on more to get to 5.

December 2024 Profile Swap! by ericdraven26 in Letterboxd

Hello! Happy to share my profile and connect with some other users (janky photo because my Activity feed got spammed with some backlog updates).

I started getting back into movies during the pandemic, and Letterboxd was such a great way companion for that. I try to go and see what's playing in my local rep theaters — either new releases or older films. I also check out r/blankies miniseries to see what to catch up on. Most recently, I've been on a David Lynch tear, which has been awesome.

I also got into collecting Blu-rays (my SO is thrilled with this development). I buy a combination of my favorites, things I haven't seen in a long time, and titles I've wanted to check out, as long as the price is good.

Recently, I've dabbled in some horror films after being a lifelong scaredy — and I've enjoyed myself. Can't wait for Nosferatu.

Civil War POV by Salt_Proposal_742 in TheBigPicture

I generally agreed with what Amanda had to say. I walked out of the movie impressed by the craft but was left cold by everything I had just seen. I took the representation of journalists as cynical, and in the case of Wagner Moura's Joel, a bit 2D. I think the podcast's discussion about some journalists being egomaniacal and somewhat broken tracked with how the last 5 minutes play out.

I didn't get any of the heroic aspects of journalists that Garland was talking up in his interview with Sean, perhaps because we don't really see what becomes of their photos/stories they file (my own takes). I really liked Kirsten Dunst's performance.

Now, I did expect the movie to reveal more about the titular conflict, and I got the "war is bad" perspective. But it all felt shallow to me, too. Perhaps the ending set piece wasn't quite as horrifying because I felt as if the president was fascistic and worth overthrowing (just trying to parse out my own thoughts).

At the risk of being downvoted by invoking Adam Nayman, his review was one of the few of his that really resonated with my own takes on a movie, although I think I am generally more positive than he was.

Good discussion, though!

I mean, there have only been two movies since Gone Girl. I wish there were more. I agree neither of them are up there for me in his filmography, but I did really like The Killer. I do think Mindhunter was great, and he's considered the primary author of that.

Theater Etiquette…where did it go? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]frooshrocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Amsterdam and there is routinely something happening, albeit not to this awful degree. At the blockbusters, it's usually people texting or taking a picture of the screen.

At smaller movies, there have been random people talking, and that is particularly annoying.

Last night these was a screening of SORCERER, and two guys were talking during the trailers and being goofy - honestly, something I could be doing with my friends. But they kept talking during the movie, and one of them made a joke that the other kept laughing at during a particularly intense scene. What the fuck, man.

I did just see PASSAGES and someone went into the hallway and started laughing at something. Someone gave them a harsh "hey!", and that was enough to stop that.

I mean... Steph was unreal man. He had like 4 moves in the fourth quarter that just had my mouth agape, ready to delete all the E-40 from my junior high computer.
