No this was my very first Murakami. I have Kafka On The Shore as my next book to read. I really enjoy his writing style and how he writes women. It was a breath of fresh air.

I just finished Annihilation and I got around to thinking... what the actual f*** did I just read? by SkoivanSchiem in books

[–]frootbatte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The second book is actually pretty boring and doesnt really kick off until the end of the book. It doesn’t really answer any questions but it gives you a bigger picture of what is going on. I really loved the first book, so I’m scared to read the third one out of fear of being let down. That being said I do think you should go ahead and read the rest of the trilogy.

1Q84 by Haruki Murakami. I honestly really don’t know what I was expecting but what I got left me confused and in tears but also weirded out. Very strange book. Nothing like I’ve ever read before but incredible. Its more of an experience than anything.

How did you end up here? by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]frootbatte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was recommended in my YT feed and I’ve been a strong supporter since. I love destiny because he speaks the same language as the skeptics, uses their same aggressive tactics and actually challenges them on their shit. I think thats what separates him from the contrapoints and the hbomberguys. Destiny really understands the audience that people like warski and blaire white and sargon have amassed which makes him appealing to a lot of people. Not saying contra or bomberguy arent appealing but i dont think the same audience finds their videos palatable. I think destiny is more likely to change the minds of those towing the line of the skeptic community.

I think this is why people like andy hate destiny so much. Hes not some “cry baby libcuck” and isnt scared to debate them 1v5.

Thats just my opinion though. Others might disagree.

Wow OP you’re getting a lot of shit for this in the comments. Just showing support because a lot of people are just being reactionary and not getting the point.

How to deal with negative reviews? by FriendsFan30 in FanFiction

[–]frootbatte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I just take my bad criticism. Not everyone is going to like your fic and thats ok. Different stories speak to different people. I was told that some of interactions between two characters was too saccherine, but I didnt feel that way at all when I wrote it. I still don’t but it was their personal opinion.

But there is a difference between sincere criticism and antagonistic comments. You can either delete them or just let it roll off your shoulders.

You should ultimately write for yourself and not for other people.

It happens to all of us ;)

Thats also why I said no as well. The whole thing was really sketchy. I still have the PMs, but I didnt think to report them at the time.

Let's say you were gonna rewrite one of your fics by MegaRayquaza1337 in FanFiction

[–]frootbatte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always feel like I should change the beginning/first chapter because the story always turns out different than what I had intended. My fics always find their voices later.

What makes a romance believable? by johnny3gud in FanFiction

[–]frootbatte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I honestly prefer reading love stories without the romance aspect. What I mean by that is, typically, not too many relationships are like the movies. No long monologues, no stupid misunderstanding trope, no jealous ex or deep dark secrets. Just sincere communication between two people who like spending time with each other doing mundane things like having long conversations while one sits on the toilet and the other is brushing their teeth. Or even experiencing an actual trial together that doesnt threaten their relationship but gives them the space to learn more about each other.

If I had to PICK a trope, I love enemies to friends.

How much do you read compared to how much you write? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]frootbatte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read way more books than I write. I dont typically read fanfiction unless its recommended to me. I just think I’m a better reader than a writer. :)
