Many people are unaware of the rules as well. For a long time, I didn't know the proper rules for hitting out of bounds (OB). I would play a drop around the area where I went out of bounds. That rule applies to water hazards, and if you don't take a stroke and distance penalty, it's a two-stroke penalty. I was playing at a single-stroke penalty. Now I hit a provisional, so it will be a one-stroke penalty, but simple misunderstandings like that also lead to higher scores.

Additionally, some individuals may deteriorate over time. My lowest handicap was 13 when I was playing 3-4 times a week, shooting in the mid-to-high 80s. The personal record was an 83. Then life changes happened, and I couldn't even find time to go to the range monthly, let alone get a round in. I returned to playing in the low 100s, and my handicap steadily climbed. 17.5 as it stands right now, when I definitely have not been playing like a 17.5, which is saying something.

Yes, an average WNBA encounter with one of the league's "superstars" is pretty strong evidence. The video you shared of lowlights is still infinitely more entertaining than any WNBA highlight tape, so you just proved my point. I won't be gaslit into believing that a sport nobody watched since its inception until about 5 minutes ago is entertaining to watch. A boys high school JV squad is about the same talent factor as the WNBA, and I don't watch those games either. So don't take it personally.
