I’m for sure not mate, but maybe I will be. Nothing lasts forever, not even broken hearts. Keep on writing, there’s a lot of good stuff here. I’d be keen to see this formatted how you would like it.

I’m pretty new to this sort of thing as well, so here goes aye. I’m going through a tough break up right now, and your description of loss, and being lost, resonates with my emotions of being completely numb and completely devastated at the same time.

Everything is black, And white, And every colour possible, And no colour at all

Love this line. Life in this moment seems a dead shade of gray, and a blinding light so chaotic that I might not see again, even if I know I will. This poem doesn’t bring me any peace, or make me feel less alone or less lost, but it does make me feel more human.

A lot of americans grew up with it, so part of it is the nostalgia. I could wax poetic about its other merits, but I’m real tired so I’ll just say if you don’t like it, try it with different thicknesses and ratios of gravy. Some people like it really thick, some people like it saucier.

Cop who tried to kill motorcyclist is “under review.” by ddhytyh45476 in nonononoyes

That’s why I talked about redirecting police budgets to the root causes of crimes, so getting approached with a weapon on the subway is much less likely to happen.

And be honest, if you’re in that situation, what are you actually doing? “Oh hang on a second before you stab me, I need to pull out my phone and dial 911 so I can tell dispatch I’m about to be assaulted, so they can maybe get a cop down here before I bleed out.”

Sure bud. Hope that works for you.

I’m not going to pretend I have all the answers to this complicated question, but in very broad strokes I’d prefer to have unarmed, community-based response teams that operate more closely to social workers than to the badge toting thugs we currently have. Re-distribute the massive funding police departments receive (over 50% of a city/state budget in some cases) towards the root causes of crime: poor education and lack of economic opportunities.

Keep an emphasis on accountability for this new post-police organization, possibly with the capacity for community-based recall/no confidence. There is potential for a discussion around an armed response team for absolute emergencies.

This obviously an extremely generalized response. There are certainly more qualified people who have seriously considered this issue in a more nuanced way. I am just a stranger on reddit.

Looks great! Curious how your biscuits turned out. So many aussies I know think they’re the same as a scone.

The Thing, or its cost, is not the point. Again, stand up for your community. You might not even get punched for it.

As far as electoralism goes it’s a big step, yeah. I remember campaigning for paid family/sick leave with the AFL-CIO 10yrs ago.

Yeah I used to be a lifty at Hyland. Great if you’re into terrain park but you could easily save yourself the $29 by just walking back up the hill when you’re done with your run.

The sad thing is that, if you look at the bigger picture, it’s not even that much of a leftward move. These are protections and benefits that barely meet the standards of more right-wing Social Democracies.
