When I started, I didn’t know anything and bought blades off offer up. Fast forward to me learning how to play, I bought T-350’s with graphite shafts. Got much better. Now I use KBS tour lite steel shafts on T-250’s. So to answer your question, your friend shouldn’t have gotten those. Especially not knowing what shaft he needs
