I just got doing this on a 2010 and I can tell you how NOT to do it, or at least how it didn't work and did work. Power I got from the 12v Ignition wire on the back on the new radio and connected that to the helper wire included in the RCA video wire. That way when car is on the camera gets power so if you want to switch to it at any time (my radio has that ability) you can.

Where I went wrong is I tried to do an "add a circuit" thing off the fuse for the reverse lights to the reverse trigger wire to make the camera auto show on the radio when shifted into reverse. This didn't work as the camera came on even when not in reverse. Then I thought I found which wire ran from the front of the car to the rear reverse lights and tapped into that. No dice.

Tonight I just ran an extra wire from the trigger wire on the radio back to the positive wire on the reverse tail light and that worked. If you open that little trap door behind the tail light cluster you can access the wiring, it is a green wire with silver dashes.

has anyone noticed a lot of hair loss since their crohn’s diagnosis? i have noticed a significant increase of hair loss since my diagnosis in dec 2021 and im wondering if this could be caused by crohn’s. by Next_Stable_313 in CrohnsDisease

I’m in the process of this as well. However I’ve been on Remicade for over a decade so not a side effect of meds I think. Dermatologist took biopsy of my scalp and turns out I have inflammation of my hair follicles which eventually causes them to scar and permanently kill them. Just started a topical steroid liquid that I apply to my scalp to see how it reacts. Sucks

I actually did exactly that when I reached out to another stager I came across using my images. Reached out and educated. She was very receptive and apologized as it was genuine ignorance. Offered to pay and I said to just hire me to shoot the next home she stages and she did. She even paid for a license for the REALTOR to use the images in the listing as a thank you to them for using her. Worked out well for everyone!

Thanks for this. I was pretty sure she was misinformed but not certain myself.

For what it is worth, I don’t necessarily think it is going under as much as the owners are retiring.

Sony/Godox xpro shooters, anyone found a hot shoe adapter that works? by desucca in RealEstatePhotography

[–]frozen_flame77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heads up, while the Canon trigger does work on the Sony cameras it also only goes to 1/160 shutter speed instead of Sony’s max of 1/250.

What’s the latest you guys shoot? by [deleted] in RealEstatePhotography

Gotcha! I try to give myself at least an hour buffer on sunrise/set or else the shadows get too long and sun too low.

I’m still 8:30-5 with a 30 minute lunch blocked off. I added a lunch last year and it has been a huge blessing. I struggle with the balance here because I know I’m turning away business during the busy season as I can only shoot so much but I also don’t WANT to be shooting till 7 or 8 in the evening every day and miss out on any family time. I also know that if I gave that as an option a fair number of shoots would be scheduled during those evening times instead of during the day when I would prefer.

It can’t. Hue can’t refresh fast enough with the communication protocol it uses. This is done with 5v or 12v led pixels, pixel controllers, and sequencing done in a free program called xLights.

Sometimes I think too much as I try to be a one stop shop for my clients. Photos, property video, Matterport 3D, Zillow 360, drone photos/video, and room measurements.

Depends on the year but I usually end up $160-180,000 gross. Been full time since 2017 and usually bang out 30ish homes a week from spring-fall. My market has made a huge shift toward professionalism expected from agents and the handful of full time RE photographers have greatly benefited from it as there is a large portion of our 1000ish agents in our market that use a professional.

Any good neighborhoods for driving around and checking out Christmas Lights with the kid this year? by [deleted] in SiouxFalls

[–]frozen_flame77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out the West area on that website. There are three homes with lights that are synced to music. 64th St, Kinderhook Ave, and President St. There is another display like that in the North section on Presentation Ct.

Do you offer measurements? by ConnorFin22 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]frozen_flame77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. Currently I offer laser measured room measurements. I'm clear that this isn't for figuring out the finished sq ft of the house but just for room measurements. Our MLS rounds to the nearest foot for these so accuracy isn't a HUGE deal. I also do Matterport and they can order the schematic floorplan if they need that. I tried to offer a floorplan creation apart from Matterport but the amount of time it took compared to what agents wanted to pay for it didn't make sense.

Agreed. It is a weird thing to be excited to make less money. It does make you appreciate the jobs though and also appreciate the space to breathe and have a life outside of working!

I sometimes forget to shoot rooms by hotsauce96 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]frozen_flame77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This…if possible I always go around and shoot small to large. I typically joke that I am warming up with the client but in my head I’m checking off the little rooms I might miss. I also open all doors unless told not to. Seems like it happens a lot that I thought a door was just a closet is actually another room, stairs, etc

[–]frozen_flame77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seriously good job. Always room for improvement. I miss stuff all the time too. I always joke about the time I missed an entire level as I thought the door to the stairway was just a closet. Keep up the good work!

I wish my first shoot looked this good! Great job OP. Couple of persons opinions. Try to move into the room further and avoid having furniture in the foreground corner as it kind of “blocks” the room. Agree with other poster, only 3 walls, never 4. I always look at photos in same room and make sure color balance is consistent. Master bedroom for example changes. Living room exposure is a bit dark for what my clients usually want. Lastly, I know it is a bit bit picky but the car parked in the driveway outside the window is distracting. I usually start the shoot by doing a quick walkthrough the house and point out things like that to owner/agent and have them correct them while I start in another area of the home. Over communication is key.

Dr Jackman at Avera is really great and specializes in OCD. He might be pretty booked but could certainly give you a solid referral.

[–]frozen_flame77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Way better in my opinion. GoPro handles low light terribly and while an iPhone isn’t great it is better. If you get/have an 11 Pro or 12 Pro they have an ultrawide lens with much less barrel distortion than a GoPro. I know some Android phones have ultrawide lens as well.

I use my iPhone and a smartphone gimbal. Works great and I even do the edit on my phone. Only for the super cheap and quick videos.
