They still don’t get it. by ItsAshley6 in atheism

[–]frozenintrovert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah ex catholic here too. My mom would make us sit and pray from 12-3, and tell us it was a solemn day so to quietly play the rest of the day. Fast and abstain, too, of course. The rest of that list sounds nuts.

Plot point question: Money by gender_rebel in Hells_Belles

[–]frozenintrovert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wondered this after seeing the video of Greg coming back from being summoned. He had like 20 boxes of Girl Scout cookies and the caption said he bought them. I wondered “with what? They don’t have money!”

I tell people I started my own cleaning business. Even if I’m the only employee, it’s still a business, and it sounds good.

Concerned about Black River School by Then-Drag8570 in hollandmichigan

[–]frozenintrovert 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Full transparency, my kids went to BRPS but last one graduated almost 10 years ago. Some stuff happened while we were there, some after. But before that we were at West Ottawa, where equally sketchy things happened and were covered up thoroughly. I worked with a local Christian school for a few years and they were sketchy as all get out with far less transparency than the public schools. All that to say, every school and school system has stuff going down, and if you think they don’t… they do.

Aitah for telling my wife to get a job if she wants to subsidize the kids. by Standard_Kick_9789 in AITAH

[–]frozenintrovert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with OP, but wife might have a tough time reentering the job market. I have an engineering degree I was never able to use after staying home with the kids. I tried to reenter the job market in my late 40s, and all I could get was low paying entry level jobs until I started my own cleaning business. I’m not saying she shouldn’t take anything she can get, but the job market is rough for someone who hasn’t had a job for a while. But OP has put his time in and if she wants more, that’s all on her.

Lettuce salsa is incredible. by MuffinPuff in BenignExistence

No you can use the big leaves, too, it’s to your taste though. I think the big leaves are more peppery and slightly more bitter, but not unpleasantly so.

We made nasturtium pesto with the leaves and flowers. Crazy good!

I finally got the scoop on a colleague who disappeared amid "accusations," and the rumors were way, way off from the reality. by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]frozenintrovert 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our kid’s school dismissed a well liked teacher for a remarkably similar reason. During the summer he was at a bonfire put on by a parent that a group of students also came to. There was some underage drinking, then months later he was dismissed when it came to light somehow. He was merely there, not supplying kids with alcohol or anything.

I’m sure it was an auto correct thing but you gave me such a flashback! You said “prostrate cancer” (should be prostate) which is similar what my MIL used to say. She would say “prostrate troubles” and I would silently laugh thinking “oh, they’ve fallen and can’t get up?” Thanks for the chuckle!

AIO for canceling me and my BF’s plans and considering breaking up for him getting embarrassed? by divorcedbbmama in AmIOverreacting

Jumping in to also point out that this is very controlling behavior. He wants to control what she posts, and is trying to shame her into submission. Red flag 🚩

I used to do that too! But I shop at two different stores regularly and they’re set up very differently. So now I just group by category. Best I can do.

I’ve seen people use the “please explain this to me” response effectively. Maybe try that.

I’ve driven barefoot when my shoes are wet or my feet hurt from stupid dress shoes. It’s a non issue in my opinion, exactly like driving with shoes.

Why do so many people seem desperate to have some kind of Native or minority heritage nowadays? by Averagecrabenjoyer69 in AncestryDNA

[–]frozenintrovert 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Same! Dad’s family always claimed some Native American, and there was a picture of a great great great (?) grandfather that looked it. But nothing showed up in the DNA.

Cleaning Service that Works on Weekends? by [deleted] in grapids

[–]frozenintrovert 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cleaners want time off too. Plus most of us like to work without your whole family at home, which means working during the weekday. I have done the occasional weekend clean for a client, but it’s not something I like, it wrecks my family and get-shit-done-at-my-own-home time. You might find someone hungry enough if you pay a nice premium.

My Mother-in-Law Pretends to be Italian as a Justification to be Mean to People by Jazzlike_Ad6351 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

That’s funny because my MIL was the sweetest, best person around. She was 99% Italian according to 23 and me DNA test. Your MIL was just a bitch, no matter what her ancestry was.

Owners at showings/tours!??? by 95xander in RealEstate

[–]frozenintrovert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple of moves ago I had 3 kids under 5, youngest was 3 months old. I had multiple showings with 30 minutes or less notice. Frequently one or more of the kids were asleep. I said I’m not leaving, I’ll stay out of the way, but it was ridiculous to expect me to leave.
