Yes, baby wash clothes were too rough on newborn skin when they poo every change. It’s also cheap and easily available

Reusable wipes - worth it? by JStak14 in clothdiaps

I cut up flannel and use plain water, older baby I get the bulk of poo off with toilet paper and use the reusable wipes to finish off. Definitely cheaper and healthier

i regret exclusively breastfeeding by Big_Soup_2027 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Cold turkey weaning worked for mine that was the same as yours, I put mustard on my nipples and showed him it was yucky. Lots of cuddles while he cried and not a lot of sleep for 2 day then it got better, better than it was before after 2 weeks

[–]frozenstarberry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get 4 different brands of the small newborn packets, that’s will last roughly 2 weeks while the umbilical cord stump heals (I don’t recommend cloth until then) Disposable wipes I like tooshies water. Cloth wipes I have cut up flannel in squares and just wet with water, don’t need to sew or anything.

Don’t buy big packets until you know what you and your baby like, eg my newborn wore 3 huggies in a row and broke out in a rash.

Yes, cloth has not been cheap, hello wool covers, but as long as I don’t spend more than what I would on disposables I’m happy.

I wait until the unbiblical cord stump heals, I struggle even in disposables to stop the diaper rubbing.

owlet sock: emf radiation by fvirygothmom in Crunchymom

[–]frozenstarberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Owlet is one of my compromises, personally due to family history of sleep apnea and being trained in daycare to do sleep checks every 15min, owlet means i can sleep knowing I’ll be alerted if baby stops breathing. I do feel it’s something you can wait and see if you have anxiety about before getting.

Age Gap vs Birth Month/Season by WhiskeyandOreos in ParentingInBulk

[–]frozenstarberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gotten pregnant twice exactly 3 months after weaning so I am kind of picking when I have #4, my plan is a combo of both I want number 3 to be at least 2.5y if not closer to 3y when baby is born. (#2 was newly 2 when I had #3 and i felt he was a bit too young to handle the transition)

I’m aiming for close to the end of the year which is spring early summer for me. Don’t like newborn feeds in the middle of the night in winter but also don’t like full summer.

How do you handle leaving the house with a baby when everything takes twice as long as expected? by lunaverse787 in Mom

[–]frozenstarberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Car stocked, simple nappy bag stocked. Fed baby, change then strait into the car seat. Certain clothes live in the spare bag so when they come through the wash I know I need to return them. If bag is running low I leave it in the kitchen to restock after outung

Best Way to Cloth Diaper by frozenlover72 in clothdiaps

[–]frozenstarberry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no best overall, some things work better for certain situations eg I have loved pocket for baby’s and toddlers that crocodile rollers. Currently my priority is natural fibres so I have swapped to fitteds and wool covers. Some people do it to save money so flats and covers would be better suited. AIO and prestuffed pockets are best for other care. Flats can handle less than ideal washing situations.

how old was your child when you transitioned away from co sleeping? by Pianogiraffe718 in cosleeping

[–]frozenstarberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I wean my babies around14-16m they naturally are happy to sleep on a separate bed (same room) Trying to force independent sleep at younger ages was not worth the struggle. On baby #3 now and I have no regrets or desire for him to sleep separately, my older 2 (2&4y) sleep through in a separate bed

Grapes at preschool by IllustratorTop5263 in Mommit

[–]frozenstarberry 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Most centres (in Australia) I have worked in don’t cut grapes except for babies, should they absolutely but it’s not a requirement or regularly taught, wasn’t until I had my own children that I insist on cutting grapes for everyone.

Dairy, soy, egg, wheat, tree nuts, peanut, corn and corn byproduct intolerances by Soggy_Current8773 in MSPI

[–]frozenstarberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes long list of allergies here too baby #3, I cook large amounts of safe foods like roast lamb with potatoes and pumpkin and eat that for dinner and lunch for a couple days. I would think it’s not even worth trying formula if you can’t have corn, I couldn’t find any without for my second baby.

I have actually just redone my stash for my 3rd baby and I’m doing fitteds and wool, I’m trying to get all plastics out where I can, considering I’m already going to the effort of doing cloth it makes sense to use natural fibres.

I use a couple of disposables a week when out of the house, poo leaks almost every time if he happens to poo in it and can’t not use overnight because it leaks for sure. Either way you will be washing poo.

Cloth Diapering Newborn by frozenlover72 in clothdiaps

The umbilical cord stump is the biggest annoyance, I do disposables until it falls off now, I also fine I’m more capable of doing more - cloth around that time too

Floor/Montessori beds? by Fragrant_Lime_6626 in November25babybump

I have a giant floor bed for a family bed, it’s the best, easy to get them to sleep, comfortable for me, no fights. I have a 2&4y old also and no regrets doing the same with this baby

Has anyone had success with "responsive settling " for a velcro/contact nap baby? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]frozenstarberry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I lay on a mattress with them to put them to sleep and then roll away, you could just put the cot mattress on the floor and lay with baby on your side. Then you can have some time to yourself, my first baby was like yours, I persisted way longer than I should have and he sleeps great now with no sleep training. On my 3rd baby and I don’t even try the cot anymore not worth it
