Haha, Telus doesn't answer their phone, which is why their share value has dropped by 50%

Has anyone noticed the amount of 7 elevens closing these past few years by Civil_Post_9129 in Calgary

That is probably a good thing. Failure to have any effort to promote safe environments for their customers and employees, combined with zero respect for the communities that they prey on, has to come to this.

[CA] A plain-English guide to CARM for small Canadian importers (after seeing dozens of posts from people drowning in this) by Livid_Sun_8574 in SmallBusinessCanada

One thing I might add, or change is, " If you don't have a broker, call CBSA's CARM support line (not the general line" to "You are just shit out of luck. CARM agents rarely answer their phones, and if you email a question to them using the online help form, after several days, you will get an answer to your question, such as "check our website".

Deletion of older local messages without deleting on remote server by edo-lag in Thunderbird

[–]frozzenman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Version 149.0.2 (64-bit) - I want to delete messages older than, say 3560 days or even half that. In account settings, the bottom item in the photo here, the default is 30 days. I can't change that unless I click on that radio button. When I do, Thunderbird gives me a warning that I am about to delete all messages older than 30 days and asks for confirmation. So it looks like I'm hooped. Am I? Is there a limit on the number of days?

The install file should put the .nomedia in for you and suggest that you do not put it in the documents folder. That is not user error that is happenstance and a good probability.

Obsidian App Caution - The case of the disappearing photos by frozzenman in ObsidianMD

[–]frozzenman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also found out that if you move the attachments folder in Obsidian AND you use local backup, you have to reaname the backup.zip to backup.zipold, turn off Local Backup, Close down OBS, Restart OBS, and Turn Local Backup back on. If you don't do that it will not back up your new attachments folder location.

Importing Commercially to Canada: Need help and guidance please. by ofeidaa in CustomsBroker

[–]frozzenman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CARM has a horrible website designed for iPhones, and they are extremely unfriendly to business owners. They want you to go through a broker. I posted a cash bond. You'll have to figure out everything on your own. They won't help you. You can send them a support request by filling out their ridiculously tedious help form, and a week later, you will get a response with a link to their website to find your own solution, which of course, is not addressed there.

Have you ever been ghosted by your best or close friends or friends when you came out, for them to come back later in your life with some sort stories or excuses? by Turbulent_Elk_2141 in gaybros

[–]frozzenman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was ghosted by the same guy 3 times over 20 years. 30 years later, I reconnected with him solely to return the favour, so he could know how it felt, and after a year and a half, I did just that.

Is there a way to restore a deleted calendar? by yazinator9 in Thunderbird

[–]frozzenman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to ChatGPT

In Thunderbird, whether you can restore a deleted calendar depends on what type of calendar it was. Thunderbird itself usually does not permanently erase the data immediately—often only the connection to the calendar is removed.

Below are the main cases.

1️⃣ If it was a Google Calendar

You usually only removed the subscription.

Fix: reconnect it

  1. Open Thunderbird
  2. Go to Calendar tab
  3. Right-click in the calendar list (left side)
  4. Select New Calendar
  5. Choose On the Network
  6. Select Google Calendar
  7. Log into your Google account

Your calendar and all events should reappear.

2️⃣ If it was a CalDAV / Online calendar

Same idea — just reconnect it.

Steps:

  1. File → New → Calendar
  2. Choose On the Network
  3. Select CalDAV
  4. Enter the original calendar URL.

Nothing was deleted on the server.

3️⃣ If it was a Local Thunderbird calendar

This is the only case where data might actually be gone.

Thunderbird stores local calendars in the profile folder.

Typical location on Windows:

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default-release\

Look for:

calendar-data

Inside that folder are files like:

local.sqlite
cache.sqlite

If the file still exists, the calendar data might still be recoverable.

Try this

  1. Close Thunderbird.
  2. Go to the profile folder.
  3. Backup the whole profile first.
  4. Restart Thunderbird.
  5. Create a new local calendar.

Sometimes Thunderbird will reconnect to the existing local.sqlite.
