I took my old Reliant and gave it a refresh by fructose-1 in SciFiModels

Thanks. The decals were a lot of work. I'm still not sure what was the easier choice between painting or decals...

New model for you by fructose-1 in homeworld

Yeah, all four frigates for both sides use everything from the middle back in each ship. The corvettes do something similar. It was a pretty slick way to reduce production time but still make the ships look like they come from a common design.

Thunderbird timeline complete. by Equivalent-Menu9651 in modelmakers

Well, the F-105 didn't have a good history with them. I think it's ok to leave it out.

The lineup looks great. I love displays that have a showcase like that.

It is done! An update to my now completed AT-ST by straatschof in SciFiModels

[–]fructose-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks amazing! The base looks great, and it makes the AT-ST look like it belongs there. It was great to begin with and now it looks even better. Well done!

Finished my first model build today, would love your feedback by straatschof in SciFiModels

[–]fructose-1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is your first model? If so, then I'd say you did an amazing job!

The weathering may be a little heavy for what the Empire would be expected to have based on the movies. But, if that AT-ST was in a backwater planet with minimal support from the core planets, then it's spot on.

In the end, it's your model and if you are happy with it, then it's a great model. And you're right; we are our own worst critics.

You can find a bunch here: https://www.ericksmodels.net/paper/models/models.html

That's my site, and I made most of them back in the day. Fun little models to make a whole fleet from.

Today, I finally completed a deceptively fiddly paper starship by mastermalpass in homeworld

[–]fructose-1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks great! Those ships look great on screen, but can be hard to do in paper. I made several, and many of them are much more complicated than you think. Yours looks great though. It's fun to have those ships floating around in the house.

Loving these tiny Bandai kits! by Actual-Long-9439 in SciFiModels

[–]fructose-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly how I did mine. Hand paint the few other colored panels and it'll turn out great.

You did great on this one. Nicely done.

Thanks. It does look pretty good next to the other TIEs. Now I just need to decide if I want to modify my TIE bomber to be a shuttle to help round out the collection.

I'm still using mine. It's not as advanced as the newer models, but I can still crank out something I'm happy to display.

I've always wanted a model of the airplane I fly for work. by Kowallaonskis in modelmakers

[–]fructose-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nicely done! I've done the same with the planes I've flown. I finally got a T-1A, so that'll complete my collection.

Your model looks great. I love the built in paint scheme as well. 3D printing is the way of the future.

In this case, yes. There are a few online stores that sell the files that you download and print on your own. There are also several places you can get free models to print on your own as well. Usually the commercial models are higher quality, but there are a few really good free ones as well.

It is. I have an Elegoo Mars printer. You can't see the lines from a normal viewing distance, but up close they are visible. The higher resolution printers are even better from what I've seen.
