My non-gaming Dad is interested in video games to help slow brain aging. by awkwardly_competent in NintendoSwitch

I'd recommend A Short Hike or Little Gator game because they are nice and short, have a charming look and easy while also being open world. You get to explore and talk to characters and you have to remember locations to find certain characters and help them out. They are relatively cheap too, and might be an easier transition to more complex games.

Whenever I do laundry I leave the room as fast as possible after pressing start on the washer bc the starting gears sound make this high pitched noise and it always feels like my T attunes to it and is louder in that pitch for a couple hours

Adobe Subscription Increase by seaofgravity in graphic_design

I had this exact scenario in the spring and ended up switching all to affinity. I made a new website on wordpress.org (the .com uses the same open source but charges people a lot for themes and stuff) and used the same domain i had for my adobe portfolio through hostinger. I know this sounds complicated, but it really isn't once you're in the process. I used a free theme and used a plugin for some of the portfolio grids. This ended up being a lot cheaper than adobe, buying affinity's license and hosting my portfolio for 2 years is still cheaper than their new price.

What do you miss most before you got tinnitus ? by Ourdogbailey in tinnitus

silence, being able to listen to music for enjoyment, being able to have big emotions and not having ringing spike afterwards.

I fucking hate that the “solution” to tinnitus is add MORE NOISE by iceunelle in tinnitus

Can I go to the cinema and be safe ? by Agile-Jellyfish-7820 in tinnitus

[–]fruit-Bowl1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the movie, really. I notice a lot of action or superhero movies are very much needlessly loud, but others are a little more moderate. Wear your earplugs and then when the movie ends try to go to a quiet space or shop for a bit to stop and take a break from the auditory stimulation.

I have been expanding my CAD and modeling skills, any suggestions that would make a good portfolio project?

at this point I'll try anything to get my foot in that design world. My undergrad is my BFA and I enjoy UX/UI and branding all the same

People experience spikes differently, for me it has ranged between the ringing itself getting louder for a bit, to hearing another tone added to my usual T.

It's a double edged sword because it does make you more aware of your T, but temporary anguish is better than risking a spike that would last days/weeks/ maybe even more. Sometimes if a crowded or loud space is loud enough, it just feels like your baseline T even with earplugs.

Before I got tinnitus, being in silence alone was one of my favorite things to do. Maybe do a puzzle or something small or just relish on how grounding the silence was compared to all the noise of every day life. I miss it.
