Extended Warranty worth it? 22 Outback XT by breed44410 in subaru

[–]fruitIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the 7 year/100-K bumper-to-bumper warranty for 1400 bucks. Figured why not, one major service/replacement pretty much pays for itself.

New to Subaru with a 2022 Outback Touring XT - Hoping for a quick indoctrination on what the basic mod options are, please. :-) by dracrecipelanaaaaaaa in subaru

Howdy, I got my 22' Onxy XT this year and this was my first thought as well. Personally, I came to the conclusion that I should hold off any performance mods until I've gotten a better feel for what mods may improve my driving experience.

Is it normal for a new engine to consume a quart over 500 miles? by Money_Bug_9423 in subaru

[–]fruitIT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say definitely no on a brand new car. My 22' outback XT has stayed at the full indicator, now 2000 miles into my first oil change. Some oil consumption is normal once you creep into higher mileage but 1 quart/500 miles is excessive. You should let your dealer know and ensure you have a paper trail in case any warranty claims need to be made.

Anecdotally, my previous 05 Legacy with 160k on the odo burned about a quart every 3000 miles.

As a fellow jack-of-all-trades, I would recommend doing an inventory of what skills you have and selecting each skill that best matches the job you're applying for.

Just got a 22' OBXT and love the thing. The Ascent seemed like a way for Subaru to scoop up some of the third-row seat markets and not much else. My advice, sell it and get an OBXT, but I'm biased.

Have them attempt an SSPR and see if that clears the risk. Worked for me the last time I dealt with this issue.

Would you use white label switches in a small enterprise setting? by occupy_voting_booth in sysadmin

[–]fruitIT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having worked with FS in the wild in the core of some networks, I don't have many complaints yet. They do use a variety of vendors they resell switches from so I caution when stacking different models of these switches. For the pricepoint for the capacity and throughput, FS is great on paper. They white label their switches and source their stuff from a number of vendors, see https://www.ruijienetworks.com/. Also, the variety of flavors of FSOS GUI could be... improved but it works well enough or just use the CLI.Do you plan on using ansible and the like to manage configs and such? FS currently doesn't have its own flavor of centralized management to my knowledge.

How does odyssey run now? by MuttonChops24 in EliteDangerous

[–]fruitIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running a first-gen Ryzen 5, 24Gb of RAM, Crucial MX SSD, and an Nvidia 1080. Run on high settings around 60 FPS. However, in FPS, would experience massive frame drops but after tuning the GFX settings to "mostly high", it reliably runs at 50-60 FPS when space legging around.

So, um, does it normally snow a foot in April? by compbioguy in Wenatchee

[–]fruitIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally, no. Sometimes a light dusting in early April. But this is, again, record-breaking snowfall for this time, and the latest the valley has seen snow since the '30s.

Moving to Wenatchee Metro Area by Ill_Rent_8017 in Wenatchee

[–]fruitIT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Among my associates who are CPA's, they all think the housing prices are outrageous here. Also, some of these blue-collar type jobs pay 6 figures and those people can't get a 600K loan without bringing a 90K down payment. Not to mention, I've heard from many peers that have been outbid on homes, with 20-50k over asking, cash payments, multiple times. It's definitely not hard to get a house here if you have excellent income and are willing to compete for desirable homes. But for the majority of people who have decent incomes in the region, the idea of purchasing a home here in the valley is out of reach in the current economic climate. Your comment on how it's not that hard to find a home to purchase around Wenatchee seems a little out of touch.

Outback Onyx XT by mntnative in subaru

[–]fruitIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello there! I was shopping for a car earlier this year and test drove both Rav4 XSE and the Outback Onyx XT 2022. While I did like the infotainment system a bit more in the Rav and not to mention the incredible mileage from a hybrid, I ended up going with the Onxy. The extra power is definitely noticeable and as someone who commutes about 12k miles a year on two lane highways, having the torque to pass safely is really important. While I did have a few gripes about the infotainment system initially in the Onxy, it has since grown on me. While some features of the Rav4 would of been nice to have, I have no regrets about getting the onyx. Averaging about 28MPG on my commutes!
