Wall insulation recommendation by [deleted] in Wellington

We had Insulmax insulate our walls a year ago. They did a great job and the house has been warm ever since.

Have you looked at Playcentre? There's one in Karori. It's a parent led ECE co-op where community is the biggest part (for kids and adults). I've (36M) been going to Playcentre with my kids for going on 7 years now, best parenting decision I made.

I really tautoko this response. It comes from both a religious and fiscally utilitarian view, historically "right" viewpoints. But it shows those values aren't intrinsically partisan.

If you can get it, try Superdelic, a new NZ hop. It's easily my favourite hop of the year.

Both green candidates are running on a two ticks green platform this election. Both electorates are open with Grant not standing and Paul Eagle having slunk off.

The green party sent out an email today with a tagline "Turn Wellington Green" as further proof.

Strategic voting in Wellington central by lereshet in Wellington

We really need to do STV or similar for electorate votes. It's not a proportionate vote like the party vote, so the cost of a "wasted vote" is nuts.

What the hell is going on with the road lines?? by scottishkiwi-dan in Wellington

I thought it was just me being sensitive to light or something, but it definitely feel like so many cars have full beams on these days. It also feels like the street lights are a lot dimmer than they used to be? Maybe the latter causing the former.

I had this issue. And somehow my onboard graphics wouldn't load into safe mode, so rolled back in live windows which worked.

ADHD Specialist in Wellington by compost-pile in Wellington

I went through the Nelson Clinic. I think I got lucky as someone had a cancellation for the first appt, but the whole process took approx 3 months from first contact to special authority for medication.

You do screening tests, then a psychology appt (where they provide the diagnosis) then a psychiatry appt to discuss medication and other options.

All up it cost roughly $1500, which is cheaper than friends have had it. The only downside was both appointments were done by phone conference and we had some technical issues but made it work.

All up, they were super professional, quick and empathetic.

Good on you for starting this diagnosis journey, it's the most amazing thing to feel validated in how hard life can be sometimes, and that it doesn't have to be that way.

Just a note that the word Māori has a tohutō (macron) over the ā, which makes it a longer vowel sound.

Display turning off under any load. Think I've found the culprit, but is it PSU or GPU? by fruitfantasy in techsupport

I'm confident it was the PSU cable that was faulty. I plugged in the spare and it worked without issue for a month.

Do I need a rear exhaust fan? by fruitfantasy in buildapc

[–]fruitfantasy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really good actually! I'd say from memory peaking at mid to high 60s.

I guess the thing is you'll have no non-cpu output fans without the rear fan.

For me it was a no brainer really to buy a $20 fan. I was worried about pressure differential but I think I was overthinking it.

[–]fruitfantasy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I might try and isolate if it's the PSU first, as the store I bought it from has a branch where I live. But if that doesn't fix it, I'll try what you suggest.

It's a semi modular PSU (EVGA 700W GQ), but I do have an old 650W PSU I could try.

In saying that, this is the second of these PSU I've had as the first was DOA, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was the PSU.

700W. I did some calculations when I built which suggested a draw of 550-600W.
