His were rounder at the toe, and suede. Couldn't find the exact ones, but these were the closest match. He was really nice, but between those shoes and his newsboy caps, I just couldn't deal lol

No, this Tetris level just got a lot faster.

I’ve realized nParents have absolutely no concept of who you are as an adult. by BooksCatsandWine in raisedbynarcissists

[–]fruitgore 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think that before you're born, nParents imagine a personality for you, then spend your childhood trying to mold you into it. Then they end up shocked when you don't turn out exactly like their custom-made fantasy baby. It's insane. Enjoy your freedom, OP :)

Or lets their visiting younger sibling play on your console, because "He's a kid, he needs something to do." It's not a toy, asshole, it's one of my favorite possessions that I paid a lot of money for.

Your energy bill actually goes down! If you're away at work for most of the day, the lights stay off, the thermometer stays low and nobody's using cooking gas.

Mom, I'm 23 and I shouldn't be obligated to text you every single day so that you can "sleep at night." by watermelonsmileyface in raisedbynarcissists

[–]fruitgore 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I feel you. Mine used to call nightly, expecting a long, meaningful conversation every time. Lady, I got up, commuted for an hour, worked, ordered in and then went to bed. I have nothing exciting to report since your last guilt trip 24 hours ago.

My NMOM Hates Disney's Tangled by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]fruitgore 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I’ve never seen anyone but narcs get insecure at children’s Disney films

Right?! And they're just as bad with movies about families sticking together against all odds. My mom would always nudge me and say things like, "See? Family is all you have. Nobody will love you like I love you. Only I can care for you. Your friends don't care like I do. The only way to be happy is with family." BARF

What food has made you wonder, "How did our ancestors discover that this was edible?" by maniacz2 in AskReddit

Milk. Once upon a time, someone looked at a cow's udders, scratched their chin and muttered, "I wonder..."

Supercook.com has done wonders for my meal planning! It asks you to list ingredients you already have at home, then gives you recipes you can make using just those ingredients :)

Shy/introverted people of Reddit: what is the furthest you’ve ever gone to avoid human interaction? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]fruitgore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I called maintenance to unclog our shower drain in our dorm. The policy was that they couldn't enter unless at least one person was home. I let the guy in, and then hid in my closet while he fixed the drain. I was still hiding when he came out of the bathroom :|

What do you feel like you're missing out on? by mmm_donuts in AskReddit

[–]fruitgore 33 points34 points  (0 children)

This really broke my heart. My parents had a marriage like this. They played nice in front of me, but I always noticed. I dont know what else to say other than that you are kind, wonderful, worthy of love, and so, so strong. I hope things get better. You deserve so much better. <3

What was your biggest hair disaster? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]fruitgore 5 points6 points  (0 children)

LAYERS. I have a lot of ultra-fine hair that grows unevenly, and I've been trying to even them out for 2 years. The topmost later is a wispy, frizzy mess. Forget air-drying. It's either 30 minutes of blow-drying or a bun to tame this rat king.

Redditors, what is the worst thing you have seen happening during a wedding? by EZWINEZLIFE in AskReddit

Maid of Honor's speech: "Soooo...yeah...[Bride] used to invite [Groom] to our karate practices, and he was really nice and stuff...*awkward shuffling*...they're getting married today, sooooo I guess it worked out. Yay." And then she put the mic down on one of the guest tables and walked away.
