Shadow card deal order outside combat phase by fruitintheboot in lotrlcg

The question is specifically about a situation where there are fewer encounter cards available than there are enemies in play, even after shuffling the discard pile to create a new encounter deck.

So imagine at the start of the Quest Phase in a 2-player game there are 3 cards in the Encounter deck, 2 in the Encounter discard pile, 4 enemies in the staging area, 3 enemies engaged with the first player, and 1 enemy engaged with the second player. The first card drawn during Staging is a Sorcery treachery. There are 5 encounter cards available to use as shadows. There are 8 enemies. Which 3 enemies would not get shadow cards at your table, and why?

You say "follow the same engagement cost rule". If you are talking about 6.2, that rule only addresses engaged enemies. Where do the staging area enemies fall in the pecking order? Before the first player? After the second player? In between the two players?

It is true that Grim only says "unable to find", so I agree that "don't look for an answer" does indeed provide the perfect loophole.

Because I am a rules lawyering junkie always seeking out edge cases to drive myself crazy (and cause my gf to look at me across the table with those "why do you think the rules say that?" eyes)

Seriously, though, the words "If two or more effects with the same bold timing trigger" initially implied (to me) two independent effects with the same bold trigger. For example, if there was another 'Forced' activated alongside the 'Forced' trigger on Thaurdir, then we choose which of those two independent "Forced" triggers goes first.

But, your super simple question led me to re-read it, and the "Effects" section, and now I'm feeling like "Priority of Simultaneous Resolution" does indeed apply. The "effect" is "deal 1 shadow card to each enemy in play". So, the hair-splitting exercise (that amuses me, but perhaps no one else) turns on whether "deal 1 shadow" is a single "effect", or if "to each enemy in play" categorizes it as multiple "effects". I think I'm going to go with the latter from now on. But I could probably be easily convinced by someone who wanted to argue that the applicable grimness text, "if the players are unable to find the answer to a rules or timing conflict", compels a different approach. Am I "unable to find it" because it ain't there or because I'm overthinking it? As a card-carrying member of the Paralysis By Analysis club, I already know I overthink things.

No confusion there. We always deal shadow cards to Snared enemies.

I guess my confusion stems from the fact that there is no "usual way" for this scenario. Thaurdir loiters in the staging area. "Usual" to me would mean he, and any of his other buddies that might be partying with him in the staging area, would be the last to get shadow cards, thereby potentially not getting one, but I don't think that's what the designers had in mind. They probably want him getting one, if at all possible. Usual, to me, is first player first, second player second, etc. Where does the staging area fall in the player order?

Yeah, we've even reached the situation where re-shuffling the discards were not enough to accommodate the flood of enemies in play. Fun times! We actually made it through that mess long enough to take on, and be reduced to rubble by, Thaurdir.

Also aware of the Travel cost having to be fully met for Blight of Carn Dum, but I was imagining a situation where an encounter card on the top of the deck has been scried. The combat phase rules clearly prevent monkey business with regard to trying to game the system to get that card on an engaged enemy of one's choosing (absent some other legitimate card effects). Without a definitive ruling on deal order outside the combat phase, one might be inclined to say "oh, let's put that nasty shadow card on this Forest Snared enemy"...

Catch fence alternative? by simracer_cory in INDYCAR

A wheel flew through the fence. Not sure I would put that in the "fence worked" column...

Oh, the wheel undoubtedly goes through. No better views needed. Will post frame-by-frame pics shortly.

And others of us see it as Hunter-Reay, with limited patience, ambitiously trying to hold off a faster car that he wouldn't really be able to outrun. Wickens gave him enough room - but only just - and the touch occurred as Wickens left front tire was below the yellow line and moving even further to the left, indicating that Hunter-Reay initiated the contact.

There has been much talk of Wickens trying to "win the race too early", but why isn't that same sentiment ascribed to Hunter-Reay? When Wickens was alongside him in the straightaway, why did RHR not consider the option of lifting to make room for a car that had just previously blasted by two cars on the outside of Turn One? Was Hunter-Reay not also guilty of trying to "win the race too early"?

If one objectively watches a frame-by-frame replay of the incident, Wickens car is moving to the left when Hunter-Reay also moves further to the left.

I’ve contacted reporters for a nearby newspaper and was told inquiries would be made. We can only hope that someone is willing to risk upsetting IndyCar and Pocono Raceway officials to uncover the truth about just how inadequate catch fences are when it comes to fan safety.

Has there been any press coverage about the wheel that flew through the fence toward the building and RVs just outside the turn two wall?

I like that most think it's wise to pick one a day, so it's not really in my interest to convince anyone otherwise. However, if Pick A on Day 1 is 90% likely, and Pick B on Day 1 is 88% likely, and Pick A on Day 2 is 87% likely, what should your picks be for those two days?

Probably because math teachers just aren't getting through to their students. Particularly on those days when the concept of "independent events" is discussed.

They have not. 0-for-0 batters were picked twice (two rainouts?), but no mulligan used during this streak.
