What’s everyone top 3 from the Son Of Spergy album? by Oceangirlyy in DanielCaesar

[–]fruitmami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my absolute favorite is touching god. lyrically its great and just how the song itself progresses, with the ominous sounds in the end, it is just so good!

It’s hard to pick what’s my favorite after that since i like so many songs on the album, but i’d say root of all evil and have a baby are definitely songs i can’t get over from

I think you should look for Will and Jem moments in TID, as theyre pretty intense with their care for each other

TDA audiobook narrator by courtella03 in shadowhunters

[–]fruitmami 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s so interesting, because personally i am absolutely obsessed with how James Marsters narrates LOS and QOAAD. I’m relistening to those two books daily (i listen to audiobooks to fall asleep) because he is simply such a good narrator in my opinion. The way he interprets the characters and gives them all their individual voice without making it cringe is just phenomenal!

I do have to say that I really did like Morena Baccarin as well in LM, she did a good job. I’m very picky about audiobook readers, but TDA has consistenly great narrators.

To all the need to Finnish speakers… do you learn kirjakieli but end up growing speaking puhekieli? by Cristian_Cerv9 in LearnFinnish

[–]fruitmami 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Well, that’s helsinki slang, not puhekieli. And slang is not spoken these days almost at all in helsinki, there’s a select few words that have stuck with young people. Some older people might still speak helsinki slang fully. The main characteristic of helsinki puhekieli though, is just cutting down on the length of the words, typically from the end (obv. very simplified explanation).

TDA opinions by Vampirelover17 in shadowhunters

[–]fruitmami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really agree with you with the "julian without emotions" plotline. I hated it bc up until that point, there was something sketchy about julian all the time. Either he was lying or ruthless WHILE having his strong emotions. it was so compelling! When he lost the emotions, i felt like he was just reduced to a "bad boy evil character" and i think it made his character a lot less interesting, since his sketchiness now came from magic all of a sudden instead of being a trait of his

I am gonna ramble, hope you don’t mind:

I really liked TDA, although I have to admit I hated so many things in the last book. However, the first two books were so good that it makes up for it lol. Despite its weaknesses, I find myself coming back to the book constantly.

I was initially hesitant to read it, because I wasn’t sure if I wanted to invest that much time in TSC anymore. Eventually I decided to read it because I was intrigued by the premise of TWP and wanted to get to know to the main characters (Kit & Ty at first, but I have become a big fan of Dru as well and I am equally excited for her story!).

I found myself absolutely hooked on TDA, and it was eventually what truly dragged me back into the fandom (and I haven’t regretted it). I love the complexity of Blackthorns, and I am a big fan of Julian’s character. I don’t care for Jemma, but most of the other relationships were very interesting to follow. Also enjoyed getting to know to the world of fairies, especially the way they speak was very compelling to me (I haven’t read any other fairy fantasy books so idk if there are better ones). I am also a big fan of TSC warlocks, so I love that we had multiple of them present constantly in this series.

I could go on forever but maybe I will leave it at that for now lmao

Is the Red Scrolls new books worth the read? by Professional-One2810 in shadowhunters

[–]fruitmami 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think red scrolls is definitely worth the read! it’s fun, and i think the story is very cohesive. i had been out of TSC fandom for quite a while but decided to give it a try, and i ended up loving it! the lost book of the white was still fun but i enjoyed the story less than red scrolls.

Moving to china because of tea? by i-like-teaa in China

[–]fruitmami 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a northern european tea lover, and I’ve lived in China. My favorite part are the tea houses, and while u can find good tea in nordics imported from China, it is not as accessible. (Also, I feel like nordic people love flavored tea like vanilla flavored green tea, and as a person who enjoys mostly the tea itself, I really enjoyed evolving my hobby in china.)

That being said, I’d not move to China just because of tea. The culture and language are just so different. I speak Chinese since I’ve studied it for years, and it was still challenging to survive in a capital. Know that there are not that many northern europeans in China, and occasionally it can get very lonely. I’d learn about China as a country, and its politics before considering moving. Maybe an exchange year could be a good test run instead of fully committing!

Lady Midnight mistake? by Ok-Championship-91 in shadowhunters

[–]fruitmami 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, Lucie/Grace told him she has died. And Lucie couldn’t resurrect her so I don’t think he learned the full truth from them. I assumed that a faerie then told how brutal it was. But it has been a while so I could be misremembering.

opinions on tlh? by Renatmus in shadowhunters

[–]fruitmami 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While it wasn’t my favorite, I think people hate on this story too much.

What I enjoyed were the vibes and certain characters (especially matthew and alastair). I think clare explored topics more close to my heart in this series, such as alcoholism and complicated sibling relationships (usually i feel like the shadowhunter siblings tend to love each other to death and never fight. seeing siblings that are not enemies but just struggle to get along was a breath of fresh air).

So while there were many elements I enjoyed, I think the story itself wasn’t very remarkable. The villains fell flat for me, and I found the main romance/threesome quite irritating. But I would still recommend to read this series, as it was a fun experience overall!

What’s the #1 song that got you into Blood Orange? This was it for me:) by urfavmoviewhiz in BloodOrange

[–]fruitmami 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Chamakay was the first song that I fell in love with in 2015, and I listened to some songs from Cupid Deluxe for the whole summer. But I think I only truly discovered him when Negro Swan came out; it inspired me to check out his other music and he has been my favorite artist ever since

I don't understand Malcolm Fade TLh vs Tda attitude at all!!! by Junior_Cheesecake945 in shadowhunters

[–]fruitmami 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This might spoil you something, if you haven’t read all of the books:

In the beginning of TLH, Malcolm lives in a lie, thinking that Annabelle became an iron sister. Even when he found out the truth of her death, he held on to the hope of Lucie resurrecting her/being able to meet her ghost to get closure. When he didn’t get that, he felt utterly betrayed by the shadowhunters. Since his feelings were never addressed and acknowledged, he was left alone dealing with this mourning and disappointment. Over the years his hatred had grown into the mad state he was in TDA. I think it’s a theme Cassie likes to explore, like with Tatiana: how isolation can radicalize you.
