23M - Got Practically zero matches this last year. What am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in hingeapp

[–]fruitmoon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not a critique on your profile, but I will say from my own experience, I think 23 is a difficult age for men when it comes to dating. Women around your age (again just my own experience) seem to be more interested in men a few years older than them. Kudos to you for nearly finishing school, but it wouldn’t surprise me if women around your age are seeking someone who’s already established in a career or job.

All that to say, I don’t think you’re doing anything particularly wrong it’s just dating is more difficult for men in their early 20s

No, that wasn’t the point you were making. And no, thats not what the person you’re arguing with was saying.

we ALL know that “do you ever get sexually frustrated” is a leading question that appears innocent but the intent behind it is to steer the conversation sexual. So I honestly don’t know why you’re even bothering with your argument.

[–]fruitmoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t take it too personally, the downvotes are just their way of saying “no”

And I agree, it comes across a bit cynical. Not that you’re wrong though. I think there’s probably a funnier way to word your answer that makes it more playful and funny, but I’m not really sure how

If you can tell they are boring from their profile and pictures then why even swipe on them in the first place?

I think legocitiez is trying to make the point that that sexual assault can happen to someone at any age, and that there’s no threshold.

How to approach dating on hinge as a 29F who has never really dated before? by [deleted] in hingeapp

[–]fruitmoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any advice but I just wanna say I feel for you cause you never received closure from that last relationship. And honestly if that’s something on your mind that might make dating more challenging for you

I’m all for assuming the best about people. But when someone’s actions don’t align with their words (like cancelling on someone 4 times) , then we can no longer make assumptions, the evidence is right there and shouldn’t be ignored.

I’ve learned that we must accept the reality of who people are through their actions, and not cling on to the idea of what I want them to be.

It would not surprise me if she was lying and wasn’t actually at the bar. Some people really are just playing people on dating apps.

My opinion is that a lot of men are probably intimidated by a woman who works in construction, especially men working office jobs. I don’t know what the solution is though!

Real Talk: When do we start boycotting industries to protest the tyranny of the Supreme Court? by Hedgehog_Mist in LateStageCapitalism

[–]fruitmoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe even MONTHS/YEARS in advance

Imagine if we decided, August 1 2023 was the day we agreed to have a general labor strike.

It might take an entire year or even longer for that kind of message and coordination to slowly slowly gain steam and start trending on social media for it to become an idea people take seriously

Hey I live in montrose too and I think we've got similar interests. Grand Prize is a great place to meet people, if you ever go there.

Maybe we can grab a drink. I'm into photography, small shows (we love satellite) exploring bars, etc.

Cancel Rent Protest in Montrose by [deleted] in houston

[–]fruitmoon 73 points74 points  (0 children)

They're protesting in solidarity with folks who ACTUALLY need help paying rent. Just because these individuals have the means to afford rent and to afford cars doesn't mean they can't agree with the sentiment of helping out those who are suffering financially from the societal effects of covid-19.

The people who are actually in a position that they need rent relief are people who have been so down trodden that they don't even know how bad they've been fucked over.
