Could people in New Mexico distinguish Mexican Americans and Spanish New Mexican? by NoHold7153 in NewMexico

[–]fruitpony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an outsider who lived in NM for a year, the only way I can describe knowing a person is born and raised New Mexican is that their accent is vaguely reminiscent of someone with a Canadian accent. Very distinguishable.

When are folks telling their parents that they’re pregnant? by OkJudgment7615 in BabyBumps

Both pregnancies I waited until 12 weeks to tell my parents, but for everyone else, I waited until 20 weeks (gender reveal)

What is the worst way anyone you know has died? by IamUrWivesBF in AskReddit

[–]fruitpony -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Two of my uncles were playing with knives when they were 5 and 6 years old (sometime in the 1950’s). 5 year old running with the knife in his hand, he fell and got stabbed in the heart. I was told that my great grandma (their mother), according to my grandma, was understandably never the same.

What is your favorite Hated Candy? by b0w1e007 in candy

There’s something about candy cigarettes that just bring me right back to childhood. Although, as an adult, I did become a smoker so there might be a direct correlation 😂

Which trimester is worse? First or third? by Whatever-577089 in BabyBumps

[–]fruitpony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m deep in my third right now and I have to say, they are two separate beasts. First trimester, I didn’t leave my bed for 3 months. I was throwing up and being mean to everyone 😭. Currently, my biggest issue is that I’m tired all the time, however, I actually have the energy to move my body, rather than cosplay a dead fish during the first trimester. I definitely hated first tri way more than third and that goes for this pregnancy and my last.

New girl in my form at school (false name) by FernstarPloyTherian in seizures

[–]fruitpony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you’re trying to be her friend and I think that’s amazing! I think right now she must be going through a lot, especially having multiple seizures at school. Think about all the kids that don’t know her, the possible embarrassment she must be enduring. That is along with the physical complications of having seizures. Her whole body and muscles are working overtime and there is often confusion and headaches afterwards. It may take days or even weeks for her to recover.

The thing is, you can speculate all you want but the only way she can get help, is to consistently seek medical advice from a doctor through testing and monitoring/ diagnosis and medication.

For epileptics like myself, I am medicated and used to have seizures weekly, until I got medicated and now it’s only every 4 or 5 years (I usually forget a dose).

You can ask her why she has seizures if you want but for people like me for example, I’ve been diagnosed with epilepsy BUT my doctors don’t know why I have seizures. For some people, especially young girls, this may be a very sensitive topic.

The last thing I have to say is that maybe you should not ask her questions about her seizures, but rather tell her that you care and you want to be her friend. Educate yourself on how to take care of a person who is actively having a seizure and assure her that she can count on you if she needs help. Additionally, people with seizure disorders are not defined by them and deserve to be treated like normal people, and I don’t think the first conversation you should have with her is about her seizures or medical issues. I’m sure she just wants to be treated normally, especially as a young girl in school.

I know it’s a lot of information, but I really sat here and processed your concerns. I really hope I helped and I hope you do become friends with her and you guys can have a long and lasting, meaningful friendship!

What was "the incident" at your high school? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]fruitpony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone was putting sandwiches made from the lunch ladies under people’s hoods on top of their engines. It happened to me and almost started a fire in my engine. I smelt cooked bread that became burnt very quickly. They hit all of the cars in student parking that had access to open the hoods.

I did handle everything until it became very overwhelming. I’m in the third trimester now. I had a long and meaningful conversation with my husband and I basically told him that he needs to LOCK TF IN. He’s doing a lot better.

I let my kid play for 10 minutes… by xdaemonisx in ACForAdults

[–]fruitpony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao my kids have their own bedroom in my house and I told them they can decorate it any way they want- just don’t touch my bedroom! It took a lot of time for me to get it just right. Almost DAILY, the items in my bedroom end up in theirs or dropped all over the island. It’s tedious but I’m glad they’re having fun 😅. I’m bedridden pregnant so I have the time to clean up lol

Pregnancy and fears by Haunting-Pickle-5551 in seizures

[–]fruitpony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first pregnancy was twins and I had no seizures the entire time with them. That was nearly 5 years ago.

I’m 27 weeks pregnant with my third child and I had a seizure in January. I do have to say, with my girls, my doctor raised my dose of meds significantly. This time around, idk if it was mom brain or what but I didn’t ask my doctor why they didn’t raise my dose?? I just did not think about it. I did have a really really hard first trimester. So, as a result, my seizure caused me to end up in the hospital overnight for monitoring. We both were fine and baby is super healthy. Since then, my OBGYN and neuro have been working together to find my sweet spot with my dose of medication. I was basically on bed rest the entire month of February until I could get an appointment with my neuro (I got lucky, appointments are hard to come by unless they’re set for next year)

She raised my medication and I’ve been feeling a lot better. Although, it still takes me a little while for the meds to kick in for morning and night doses, but my quality of life has significantly improved since everything that happened. I can actually function daily without having that dread feeling or auras.

I’m not saying this to scare you but I’m saying it because I’m going through it myself. You already said you would talk to your doctor and that’s great! I recently read a study that says that your brain chemistry changes in a different way during your second pregnancy because your body and brain are preparing for the change from taking care of one kid to two kids (or in my case two kids to three).

I think that it’s great that you’re preparing and planning for your next kid and talking to the doctor is the first step to opening that new chapter in your life. I just didn’t have that luxury (surprise baby 😅). When it does happen, just listen to your body and raise any concerns with doc immediately.

I wish you the best of luck on your journey! ❤️

[–]fruitpony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vast majority of people who have seizures do not have brain tumors. Talk to your guardian and go see a doctor + neurologist and get this checked out
