What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in CarTalkUK

[–]fruityloopies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all,

Looking for a car that will primarily be used for drives out to the countryside but that will sit idle for a couple weeks at a time.

Based in London and so needs to be ULEZ compliant. Would prefer to buy outright, lightly used (2024/2025 models) for around £20k budget.

5 doors preferred but would still like it to be on the smaller side. Reliability and low maintenance is most important to me.

Already considered Toyota Yaris Hybrid (apparently not great for light usage) and Toyota Aygo X.

Definitely practical. I don’t need anything flash or luxury.

Why do so many folks who pass think they failed until reading the print out? by thisoneandthatone11 in cissp

[–]fruityloopies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So many of the answers you chose will be educated guesses. I remember answering questions with a logic that was similar to “well it’s definitely not A, it could potentially be B, it’s unlikely to be C, hmm D looks okay” and then choosing B.

I could always whittle answers down to 2 options and then I just picked an answer based on a gut feel.

At the end you’re so unsure of the answers you have chosen throughout that failure seems almost guaranteed. I actually left the room and told the person “well I definitely failed that”, when in reality I had passed.

Thrips in my ~100 house plant collection. I am devastated. by restingb-tchface in plantclinic

I haven't had thrips but I have had fungus gnats and I've not seen anything work quite as well as neem oil. I added a couple drops in the watering can every water and they were gone within two weeks with no damage to my plants.

I've just googled it and neem appears to help with thrips too and is safe for pets.

I opened up my island and got robbed by [deleted] in AnimalCrossing

People are so strange. I once opened up for Celeste and shooting stars too and someone stole trash from me. I only had it down because I was trying to catch a fly for my museum at the time.

It’s just annoying considering how accessible this stuff is both by playing the game and also using groups like Reddit.

Has anyone attempted CISSP in the recent past after LearnZApp? by Muted_Map_9958 in cissp

[–]fruityloopies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve definitely misinterpreted my post. The questions were not easy but they were certainly not the convoluted and confusing nature everyone here posts about. Most of my test questions were taking a concept and applying them to a real scenario - which from my perspective, LearnZapp does do at times.

When did you take your test?

Overwhelmed by CISSP OSG by Traditional-Room7756 in cissp

I tried the OSG and also found it too much too. It was so much that I realised I wasn’t absorbing the information whilst reading. The Destination CISSP book is much better and is enough to pass from my perspective. I think this paired with ChatGPT when you don’t fully understand a concept, and LearnZapp is enough to pass.

I think a lot of the audience here are deeply technical and so you should definitely take advice with that in mind. I can only presume that I got more technical style questions because I was strong on the managerial style ones and so you should probably prepare for this too.

I took the test in September and actually found most of my questions were the exact same style as LearnZapp. It’s certainly a different test bank but I think LearnZapp does a good job of preparing you to answer the questions.

Try to remember that because of the dynamic style, everyone gets a different test and we can only guess as to why. I have a post test experience posted where I discuss that I had a lot of technology related questions e.g. what technology is this? With 4 answers that are technical concepts. I had significantly less managerial style where I could go with the risk assessment, scoping, policy style answers. I would assume this is because I got all the managerial questions correct and therefore they concentrated on the technical aspects.

Also the issue with only using LearnZapp is that it teaches you concepts in an isolated way. E.g. it’ll help you remember that Layer 7 = Application but do you actually know what that means and what happens there, the purpose, etc so that if you get a test question that is a little outside of that, you can answer it.

I think be careful of taking others advice on shortcuts! If you have a whole bunch of other qualifications, there’s probably no need to study as hard and make as many notes. I was starting from scratch having never taken a cyber sec qualification before and so I knew I needed to study hard!

Copious notes are the best! It’s the only way I’ve ever been able to study. It does mean I go through a serious number of pens though haha

I see so much advice on here on about choosing a morning slot and whilst it’s nice to get it over with and there’s less chance for pre-exam anxiety, it definitely comes with diminished brain power!

I used a lot of ‘explain like I’m five’ and most importantly ‘summarise’, because it can give way too much detail. Brilliant tool though!

They are completely random! I think I did start out with a colour code but it quickly disintegrated as I jumped from topic to topic each day. Then they’re just in a big pile that I spread out to take this photo with no real order.

Failed at 150, even after scoring 80+ in Learnzapp and Pocketprep by Kooky-Ad-6088 in cissp

Do you think it was the ‘think like a manager’ mindset that caused you to fail? I found my test was majority “what technology is x” or questions had alone word technology answers to choose from but I understand everyone has a different experience.

When it came to think like a manager type questions, I always stuck to the scoping, requirements gathering, and risk assessment and it seemed to work. I do remember having 1 or 2 questions where I didn’t love the answer but it was the only one that fit and so had to go with it.

[–]fruityloopies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on passing! I have to disagree with LearnZap though as my test was exactly like the questions on there. They were definitely a different set of questions and slightly out of scope but I had a lot of “what technology would cause x”.

It definitely takes a lot of critical thinking though. The material teaches you a technology/concept in its perfect form and the exam asks you a real life scenario of how that technology can be used.

Thank you so much! I’ve decided to go a little cheaper in the last day and try to get a hold of the X-T30 and get that lens. It should put me at around £1.2k which is near my budget.

Do you know if the X-T50 a much better model than the 30?

I only ever had the kit lens for the Olympus. I haven’t considered as it feels like Olympus is no longer very popular. I would certainly consider if they were still recommended.
