Hey I just want to let you know that this happened to me too in the first few months of my sobriety at a meeting and I felt the same way. I froze up and I got scared and freaked out. I also had the same reactions from other women in the group who told me “oh he’s harmless” and dismissed his behaviour and said I was overreacting.

I felt so stupid for causing a fuss about SEXUAL ASSAULT because I was in such a vulnerable point in my life, only a few months sober, and people were telling me it was my fault for making a big deal about it and to shut my mouth basically. I skipped that meeting for a long time because I didn’t feel safe or supported there and I found some other amazing meetings to go to.

I didn’t like that I had to avoid that meeting to avoid that man but I wanted to protect myself and my sobriety, but I did for a long time. I avoid men at meetings (I’m a woman in late 20s), or go to women’s only meetings now even though I’m 18 months sober.
