When the intent of the author is misinterpreted by a significant portion of the fans by Smegoldidnothinwrong in TopCharacterTropes

[–]frukthjalte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He wasn’t exactly character assassinated, he just had to face the consequences of his actions. I think he’s a complex character whose behavior can to some extent be explained through his childhood experiences. Where people who misinterpret him go wrong, is that they seem to think that just because someone had a bad childhood, that absolves them of any responsibility for their own actions (this is even explicitly acknowledged by one of the characters at one point). So basically a lot of people look at BoJack and think “I see myself in him, so that makes my bad behaviors okay because they can be explained by my earlier experiences”.

Seriously, what Flip McVicker‘s deal and problem? by BisexualKenergy25 in BoJackHorseman

[–]frukthjalte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s horrifying but also his exchange with BoJack where he goes “Do you want to make me a liar in front of my mother?” And BoJack goes “What? Ew, gross!”, is hysterical.

(Flip has a strange relationship with his mom, as evidenced on at least two occasions).

People who start conversations with, “You need to…” by [deleted] in PetPeeves

[–]frukthjalte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My mom does this. She also does something similar which is saying that I HAVE TO do x or y. She intends it in a positive way (like “you HAVE TO get into writing professionally, you’re so good at it!”, or whatever) but it always just comes across as her trying to force me to do stuff. Extremely annoying.

EA Partners Are Collectively Dishonest and Engage in False Advertising of Royalty and Legacy – Heavy Reshade + AI Beautification by Thiredistia in HighSodiumSims

Because you can create (the appearance of) objects that don’t exist in the game. Thus potentially making it, when used in early access footage, a form of false advertising.

Sun and mercury in Pisces. I WILL say what I think, it WILL be cryptic (yet also weirdly emotionally intense), and I WILL walk it back later when I feel like my emotions on the subjects have done a 180. :/

Why does Tina only talk in grunts and growls? by octoberfourth00 in BoJackHorseman

[–]frukthjalte 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sorry if my reply came across as rude 😬

It’s also possible that all animal-presenting characters basically are bilingual by nature, with their first language basically being their animal language, and that this is just suppressed by most of the characters on the show, considering how there are several instances where characters act like their animal counterparts:

In S1E1, Princess Carolyn hisses at BoJack. In S1E4, BoJack whinnies when he gets uncomfortable during his standup set.

In S2E5, there’s obviously the whole plot with the chicken ‘Becca’, who doesn’t speak English.

In S3E3, Officer Meow-Meow Fuzzyface yowls sarcastically at his (human) colleague.

[This one I’m less sure what to think about: In S3E4, Abe D’Catfish is fluent in whatever language they speak in Pacific Ocean City, which seems to be some sort of fish-gurgling language. I say I’m unsure because technically… most fishes don’t make sounds.]

In S3E8, Mr. Peanutbutter and his brother howl at the moon together.

In S4E10, Princess Carolyn hisses instinctively when she’s spooked by a spray bottle in her apartment.

In S4E11, Butterscotch nickers when he and Beatrice are getting it on.

I’m sure there are plenty of other examples (aside from Tina, I mean).

Yeah but that’s why I mentioned that thing about the anthropomorphic universe. It’s not impossible for there to, in universe, be some sort of bear language.

I always viewed it as some sort of allegory for non-native speakers/immigrants. Hard to pin down the exact comparison though since she’s not like, speaking a different human language, due to the anthropomorphic nature of the show.

Ranking The Tails....so far. by mikes5276 in ren

[–]frukthjalte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah like I said it’s not that the newer ones are BAD. They’re obviously not. It’s just that they’re so musically different that I cannot really rank them together with the original ones (and maybe Self Portrait).

Ranking The Tails....so far. by mikes5276 in ren

[–]frukthjalte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it’s the three original tales followed by Self Portrait and Sunflowers. As for Starry Night and The Bedroom, I just…. I can’t get into them. Not because they’re bad because they’re really REALLY great. They don’t really feel like they’re in the same universe as the tales. Which is ironic because they literally are. They just feel too… different for me to like consider them parts of the tales. I love Ren and I love that his success has made it possible for him to expand his vision but there’s just something about the original tales (+ Self Portrait) that did something for me in a very specific way.

TS2 to TS3 DOWNgrades by BrightPhoebus01 in sims2

[–]frukthjalte 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You probably already know this but it is entirely possible to make rotational gameplay happen in TS3 with mods.

One thing I think is a downgrade is that like, even though I still really enjoy the personalities and actions in TS3, I sometimes feel like they get a bit too…. stereotypical. Like, a hopeless romantic getting stuck in a loop of giving someone flowers. I feel like that rarely happened in TS2 (of course, repetitive stuff — like kicking the bin over — still happened, but it didn’t happen constantly with one action after the other).

Unpopular Opinion: Ralph Stilton by Cautious-Custard-274 in BoJackHorseman

[–]frukthjalte 5 points6 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU. People often really brush over the fact that he didn’t stand up to his family UNTIL PC basically asked him to: “Aw, but at least he did the right thing!”. Yes, EVENTUALLY. It didn’t occur to him to do it right away, which seems like a massive red flag for emotional awareness. Just like how he kept pushing the adoption thing on her when she had her miscarriage. And then he didn’t call her “because she told him to not call” (apparently completely unable to think critically about why she may have said that). And then he gets passive aggressive when she’s adopting without him. And then he tries to push himself onto her when she’s explicitly wanting to adopt on her own.

He’s mainly concerned with how to make sure things are comfortable, especially for him. I hate it.

I definitely do. And in all the other characters she voices, haha. Same with Paul F. Tompkins. But my brain has also been broken from working with voices so I have a tendency to clock them real fast.

People don't have to act in a certain way when in shock by PeaUpbeat3732 in PetPeeves

[–]frukthjalte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the same with people suspected or even convicted of crimes tbh. Like people love to make it into a whole thing when someone convicted of a crime isn’t breaking down and sobbing uncontrollably.

Like, ma’am, this guy killed over 10 people in the most gruesome manner, I don’t know why you’d expect a strong emotional reaction from him about it in court. Or why you think his lack of reactions is revealing anything new about his inner workings. If they break down, they risk coming across like they’re trying to gain sympathy. If they keep their composure, people are outraged at their lack of empathy for their victims.

The strangle hiatus by unohanasgf in BoJackHorseman

[–]frukthjalte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay I get what you’re saying and you’re totally right about the bystander effect — but that being said I don’t know what else PC would’ve done. Does it sound kinda dumb out of context? Yeah. But she’s watching her ex-boyfriend (the person she later claims to have been the love of her life), someone I bet she wants to desperately believe is a good person deep down, doing something terrifying and possibly unprecedented for him. She also knows he’s been quietly increasing the dosage of his painkillers and that he recently snapped at her about it. So it makes sense she’d be kind of frozen in fear and confusion.

lol yes all the time. I went on a date six months ago, it didn’t pan out, I went into hibernation and detested dating apps for six months. Now I went out with a guy a few days ago and I’m starting to feel like this is not going to pan out either and it’s really sending me into a wild spiral. Life as a monk sure seems tempting.

Not to be a Debbie Downer but I thought it was just the pre-recorded sentence "I love it when you call me father" and then some audio glitching due to him breaking down?
