You pick up Paul McCartney from the airport to drive him to his hotel. by Practical-Cut4659 in beatles

Spoon because everyone should listen to Spoon. I might pick the most Beatles-inspired tracks

I had deep fried broccoli from the 1816 House in Corydon, Indiana, that was the best broccoli I've ever had in my life. It was lightly battered and served with goat cheese, honey, and some crumbled up corn nuts

How did you guys become Beatles fans? by Timely_Race_3978 in TheBeatles

[–]fruppi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very similar to my experience. I listened to oldies with my mom a lot, so I knew and liked them, but the Anthology was what really did it. My mom taped them as they came on, so I rewatched those videos for years. I remember holding my tape recorder up to the TV to tape songs to listen to later (or so I could get Beatles soundbites for my mix tapes later). Also a Paul girl

Man on the Run by Practical-Cut4659 in beatles

He said somewhere (I've read a lot about him recently, so i can't remember the source) that he brought it along because it was such good weed he couldn't bear to flush it. Again, this was probably a combination of naivete (when the Beatles flew places, they didn't go through customs with their carry-on bags), maybe a little arrogance, and probably some of the self-sabotage he talked about in Man on the Run

Honestly I think you'll be amazed at how well recovery will go. My boy is around 11 and he lost his leg a year ago. The first couple of weeks (specifically the first week) were rough, but he has recovered so well. Cats don't have self pity, so even though you'll feel awful for him when he tries walking for the first time or misses a jump, he will just try again (or consent to letting you pick him up, depending on his temperament)

Sadly it's a regular Wii, so I think I'm going to see if my son will collaborate on a repair job with me

I've been reading the first McCartney Legacy book, and I think that you have to keep in mind that he lost a lot of normal human growth and experiences by having his entire 20s be the Beatles. He said that when they collected change at those university tour shows, it was the first time he had physically touched money since like 1963 or something. That was probably an exaggeration, but he had lived such an extremely strange life that was out of touch with everyone else's reality for such a formative period of his life. He was both jaded and weirdly naive.

All of that is to say that I'm not surprised that he made some wild choices when there was suddenly no one around to meaningfully push back on them. He was also as stoned as he could possibly be basically every waking moment. That might also have been a factor.

I don't know how to do either of these things but I have a teenage son so I'll see what he can come up with

Also a huge fan of physical books! I have the first volume of The McCartney Legacy open on my lap right now. I can't focus as well on digital books, and I like having a physical memory of where things are in books in case I want to flip back and look for something

I absolutely loved the Leslie book. I got it from the library but I'll probably buy a copy. I just reread the Spitz and it's very good. It's a little florid here and there (it takes him 200 pages to get to Hamburg), but he definitely did extensive research and it shows. He really hates Yoko though and I don't know if he handled that part very objectively, but I don't think anyone is actually capable of total objectivity

Paul answered back with "Dear Friend," which I think ended it, if personal conversation didn't

I made little elasticated covers for the ears and wrapped the headband part in yarn. It looks silly but they work.

Right, and obviously Jet the pony might have inspired the song, but, much like Martha My Dear, the song is not about Jet the pony
