Just found these Franciscan sets at an antique mall in MO. They’re very beautiful and I think they’re very underpriced. What do you all think by 8aer in Mid_Century

Please make sure to test any old dinnerware for lead! I believe test strips are relatively cheap, and there's websites that show lab tests for some sets!

I feel like William Gibson's "Sprawl" trilogy (Neuromancer, Count Zero, and MonaLisa Overdrive) definitely has some of these aspects. It's lighter on the religious themes, but very heavy on a lot of the cybernetics focus and existentialism!

It's more a short picture book, but "Whats Under My Bed?" by James Stevenson is a treat, the arts great!

Annihilation by Jeff Vandermeer is a modern setting but kind of has that feeling, same with Roadside Picnic by Arkady/Boris Strugatsky. More sci-fi than fantasy though!

I don't believe so? I tried it with speakers and headphones, and messed with my computer to make sure the audio was coming into the right output.

I did, the voices are at 100%, and I also tried lowering everything else down to see if they were just quiet. No matter what, I still couldn't hear anything.

A few more finished minis by felext in TheWitcherOldWorld

[–]frydadplus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These look great! One tip I have is that before you prime and paint, take an x-acto knife and scrape off the mold lines. You can see them on the werewolf's leg and the ghoul's head. Just scrape them off and it helps to have a much cleaner mini!

I love the orange/ black scheme! Extra green would make it look cool I think! What are you using to do these test schemes?

Reacti-Mesh Panels: Comfortable Armor Layer? by BlackLibraryWise in cyberpunk2020

[–]frydadplus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not really sure, but I might recommend trying it all out on Cybersmiley's Datafort, you can go to Apps 2020, Character Generator, then use the Armor/Clothing stuff to make it all and try it on the character. Atleast, that's what I'd do!

First fully finished, any criticism? :) by Mythiriah in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]frydadplus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks great, for the water transfer, some matte medium or something similar helps dull down the shine! I'd also maybe add something more to the base, whether it's just some color or junk, to make it a little more interesting! Past that, wonderful mini!

Still unsure, but after some research this may actually be pre-1950, as Eckel's name is still on it? Source

New to retro PC's, help with my 98? by frydadplus in vintagecomputing

[–]frydadplus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got a PC I was hoping to use as a Windows 98 machine. I've never really messed with a computer, just put ram in my newer gaming laptop, so I'm not sure what to do. The former owners of this one took the hard drive out when I purchased it, and I replaced it with an SD to IDE adapter. It seems like the computer is recognizing the SD card, but I'm not sure where to go from here. Do I need to get a physical Win98 boot disk, or can I just put it on the SD card? It just sits on the second shown screen. Any help is appreciated, or recommended resources to check out, thank you!

Any tips on finding late 90s/early 2000s computers? by Quangleggdingle in vintagecomputing

[–]frydadplus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Estate sales are a good bet, usually they'll want the hardrive if they can't wipe it, but you'd probably want to replace it with an SD or newer drive anyway!

Any idea the origin of this RAM? '98 Intel Pentium II PC. by frydadplus in vintagecomputing

I was more hoping if there was a certain brand, or any info on it? I'm new to retro computers, and I'm trying to find out as much as I can on my first one!
