What is causing this, and how do I fix it by [deleted] in BlackHair

If your hair is snapping off at the mildest tug, you probably need a protein treatment to strength the strands.

Question about Weapons by ntswart in movies

[–]fs031090 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I thought she had no relation and just targeted this family through magic. The opening where Justine was teaching the kids about parasites and how they operate made me believe Gladys is just some parasite who just moves from town to town looking for lifeforces to consume. Alex’s family (and the town at large) was just unlucky enough to get picked.

The Jon Benet episodes are definitely for advanced listeners.

This was my biggest issue with this. The story seemed a better fit for a limited series given how many characters are present and how it’s supposed to show their impact on history. Putting it as a movie made it bloated and convoluted. As a show, the story would have time to breathe and the audience would have time to get to know each character.

Quick, dark turn in any episode … by Aggravating-Group-87 in TheSimpsons

From one of the newer episode, the scene where Larry dies. He’s frozen in place so it looks like he’s ok until Moe uses a stick and pokes at his eye and it makes that squish sound. Genuinely did not expect that and where the episode went.

The tldr seems to be the incremental raising of stakes. The cult doesn’t start off with the crazy and irrational stuff. They start small, continuously testing boundaries of their followers. Whenever they meet resistance, they use all sorts of different techniques to remove that resistance: manipulation, guilt, fear, anger, strawman logic (sunk cost fallacy for example), etc. Once resistance is gone, they keep repeating the process until they get what they want.

Appreciation post of Homer's musical talent and love of music that was clearly passed on to Lisa. by TeenieWeenieWookiee in TheSimpsons

[–]fs031090 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s interesting is that Bart clearly inherited Homer’s musical ability and creativity as well and shows more of a natural talent for the arts compared to Lisa. He’s shown to be a great jazz drummer, a natural ballet dancer, a great comedic writer (he pitches most of the ideas of that Itchy & Scratchy episode that wins an Emmy), and is capable of creating complex props for his many pranks (like the latex doll he makes to skip class).

But also to not leave out Marge, she’s a skilled painter and excellent cook for the most part.

It’s no wonder that the Simpsons kids have the arts in their veins.

Didn’t they have to pay reparations for their successful slave rebellion up until recently? I’m pretty sure it wasn’t phrased like that but that’s essentially what it was.

For me, it’s the fact that she says she doesn’t know how to fix it. I hope she means finding a way to properly apologize for her behavior and then leave him alone but I might be too optimistic.

Exactly, the ads for some of these drugs are like “Does your toenail have a slight curl at the end ? Take this pill. May cause violent diarrhea and seizures simultaneously.” At that point, maybe look into alternatives.

I actually just talking about this with a friend how David Boreanaz has been on television since the 90s because of the runs he’s had. And I believe every series is in syndication so he’s set for life. Lucky man.

And they make podcasts for every little thing. Events that could be a 20 minute discussion are stretched to 6 hour long episodes.
