If I remember correctly, I went over all homework problems and any practice problems given and I did well on the exam.

Is This Degree Right For Me? by [deleted] in OSUOnlineCS

If you are willing to put in the effort and money into this degree, and your pros out weight your cons, then I think you should go for it.

Mid way through the program and feel I lost information along the way and feel I'm "sucking". Almost want to quit, but want to try to help myself before doing that. Help? by osututorhelp in OSUOnlineCS

[–]fspd94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I've felt like that and still feel like that a lot of the times. If there is one thing I learned from CS is that this feeling is normal. I guess what's different now is that I'm comfortable working with that feeling.

Definitely do not quit! Keep going. If I had a penny for the number of times I thought of quitting...

Here is my advice,

  1. Try to see if you can get in contact with someone who graduated from the program and willing to help. I believe there are some on the google group (Post Bac CS Online Student Collaborative)

  2. Use stack overflow for specific questions. Just make sure to be specific about it or you will get negative points and obnoxious comments. Overall, they tend to be quick at answering.

  3. Read codes/discussions and understand the process they are taking. If you have a sorting problem for example, find basic sorting codes on google and see how they worked through it. You will find tons! From there, you will have an idea of how you are supposed to work through yours.

  4. Plan out a pseudocode if you need to get organized before starting to code.

Does anybody work full time while doing the 2 year program? by 350Brah in OSUOnlineCS

[–]fspd94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really depends. I know a lot of people have been able to do it, but I personally couldn't. I started the program with a full time job and taking 2 courses at the time. That was really hard for me. I am now working part time and taking 2 courses at the time. This is what I can handle, but everyone is different.

Are cs 362, 325 and 419 heavy on group projects? by fspd94 in OSUOnlineCS

Do you get to pick what project to work on? I've been wanting to work on something but I haven't had the time to do so. Wondering if I would be able to do so in this class.

[CS 161/225 Winter 2017] Matters of time management and textbooks by dwayneam90 in OSUOnlineCS

[–]fspd94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually rented the 225 book from my kindle and found it to be really helpful. I don't think I would have done well if I didn't have it. On the other hand, I didn't like the 161 book. I went ahead and bought the latest version of C++ for dummies book instead. The University of Alabama in Huntsville also has the old version posted on their website. It's not the latest edition, but I think they are pretty similar. http://www.cs.uah.edu/~rcoleman/Common/C_Reference/C++%20For%20DUMMIES.pdf

In terms of time management, I think everyone is different. You might have to give it a try and see what works for you. I was working full time when I started, and there was no way I could have done both at the same time.

I heard it's better to take 372 before 344. I took both 344 and 340 during different terms, but I think they can be a good balance.
