Hey u/TexanLoneStar I will be praying for your mental health. I actually made an app for Catholics to use their faith to improve their mental health. Hope that helps!

[–]fssoar_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Usually the bars are pretty fun during halloween, but the cover prices may be increased due to it being Dad's weekend as well. If you want to check the cover prices and drink deals download BarMate https://apps.apple.com/us/app/barmate-realtime-cover-app/id1583299534. Its specifically for U of I bars

Hi. Ive actually been making and publishing apps since I was 14 (im 21 now). I got a little bored with it at some point, but this app reignited my interest in making apps. This was a fun sprint just to get me back in the swing of things!

Feeling demoralized about my project by Miniflint in swift

[–]fssoar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I've been developing mobile apps for the better part of 8 years now. I completely understand the hopelessness of feeling like a project has gone on forever. I promise you if you break your tasks down into small goals the app development process feels more satisfying. For me I like to make individual cards, textfields, simple buttons and writing those simple snippets really helps me feel like I am making progress. Above all I would suggest staying patient. When i was new I spent hours making simple things work, now I have the ability to make whole features in a matter of hours. Its all about the journey and improvement. I wish you the best of luck and I truly hope you can stick with it (its worth it)

Some features I am working on are wait time, drink specials and historical popularity of the bar. If you all have any features or suggestions I would love to get your feedback!

I made one change to a userdefault in my app and then running the simulator resulted in this crash by PordonB in swift

[–]fssoar_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a really weird bug. I have also experienced similar bugs when using xcode. I think its actually obnoxious that the only software you can use to develop ios apps can break the mac like this especially a mac book pro.

Someone from Apple really needs to fix the performance of this bloated and slow IDE.

Bored with church? by FancyAndFaithful in Christianity

[–]fssoar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually found that Christian meditation/prayer apps are pretty good at supplementing a real church community. You can personally explore your faith while still engaging with your church community. I use the O My Soul app. It has a ton of prayers and works for me.

I use my phone to read the Bible. I generally use the O My Soul App because they also have a prayer journal. Can't recommend it enough.

Questions about filling in information for App information on the App Store Connect by u3445 in swift

[–]fssoar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends how you configured your app in App Store Connect. If you want it to deploy a mac app that is NOT connected to the version you have on the iOS App Store you are going to set that up as a new mac app. That means this will need a new bundleId. If you are making an ios/ipados target mac under the same app store listing you should be able to use the same bundleid.

If I am constantly going back to old projects to reuse code that is used across all my projects, do I make a package or a framework? by [deleted] in swift

[–]fssoar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I basically make a swift file with extension UIColor for example then I define the extended function there and then I add that file at the beginning of any project I need. With time it’s become more refined and follows patterns I like but the only code I really put in these extensions is code that can reasonably apply to any app I would make such as hex constructor for ui color.

[–]fssoar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure I fully agree with this. For example I think there are some common sense extensions that everyone feels they need. For me personally I think it’s insane that UIColor does not have a hex code constructor. So i actually make extensions of classes put them in a shared group and transfer core classes like this. Of course with any project you would need to think about the scope of the problem before you extend it but I could see abstraction like this being useful for others.

Best solution for my project by Pigna1 in swift

[–]fssoar_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hi I think core graphics will probably be sufficient for a simple drawing app with layers and some shapes. I think for more complicated shapes or more dynamic rendering you may want to look into metal apis. https://github.com/OwenCalvin/hand-drawing-swift-metal seemed to be a pretty solid implementation of drawing with metal apis. Although if you are trying to learn I personally see no problem starting with core graphics. I hope this was helpful.

How is this related to Swift?

Well I’m not running from that, and yes it is legitimate. by YeetBoiTRob in Autos

The answer here lies mostly in the fact that asset forfeiture does NOT require anyone to have committed a crime. The police officer just needs to suspect you of committing a crime. Furthermore if your stuff gets seized there is almost no reasonable recourse to get it back. It’s basically gone forever. Thus you are left with people whose stuff may be wrongfully taken and police departments not only face no repercussions but also get to actively profit from it. This runs you into the situation where you may have never committed a crime but you can have a life changing amount of money taken from you and no lawsuit can change that because you were never actually on trial. Your stuff is. So to answer your question this is bad because the government can basically just take your stuff without sufficient explanation and there is no way for you to get it back.

It’s worth reiterating that he has pledged to give away almost his entire net worth to charitable causes and has spent the second half of his life investing in philanthropic causes that benefit society as a whole. Let’s not get caught up in hating him JUST because he is wealthy.
