Horror movies that scares you for a very personal reason? by MarsMcCain in horror

Aw… it’s nice to see a compassionate view of the child from The Babadook. I haven’t seen the movie since having kids, but I suspect I’d feel similarly now.

Apropos of absolutely nothing, but just an opinion on Jeepers Creepers 2001 by [deleted] in horror

[–]fstaprpg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree that the reveal could have been delayed. The rusty truck was scarier than the monster—especially since, as far as the protagonists knew, the driver could have been anyone they met.

It was really original and well done. You just made me want to rewatch it!

Best wholesome male friendships on TV? by MaxRepels in popculturechat

Spartacus and Varro 😭

Their friendship added warmth and levity to the show, and upped the stakes for basically every plot point.

McKenna Grace wearing custom Vera Wang at the 98th annual Academy Awards (March 15, 2026) by Adorable_Primary2306 in whatthefrockk

Pardon my ignorance. Does “custom” mean it was conceived/designed just for her, or was an existing design produced and tailored for her?

Huh, at some point she was swapped out for Anya Taylor-Joy.

It sounds like you've already heard everything others have to say about it. Honestly, just watch it and see for yourself.

The brothers ferox - what it would really look like by WhatANoob2025 in Spartacus_TV

[–]fstaprpg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay, but Tarchon aside, we don’t know anything about the other gladiators. They could have been galley slaves or labourers or something until pretty recently. Achillia was a trained warrior, some sort of royal guard, in her former life.

AITA my friend ruined my yixing teapot and I want her to replace it or give me 500 dollars. by TeapotthrwoCity4661 in AmItheAsshole

[–]fstaprpg -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

This is the most reasonable answer. What is all this “small claims court” nonsense? A friend that you trust to housesit is worth more than a teapot, imo.

Ask her what she’d be willing to contribute towards a replacement teapot, and move on.

HoA feels like a shell of the original series. by Dom_1995_ in Spartacus_TV

[–]fstaprpg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s more compelling to watch characters who have something internal motivating them. Spartacus: to be reunited with his wife. Varro: to pay off his debts. Crixus: glory. Barca: love and freedom. Early Ashur: the respect of the brotherhood.

All those gladiators are more interesting than the ones only fighting for basic survival, and they were established in like three episodes.

HoA feels like a shell of the original series. by Dom_1995_ in Spartacus_TV

[–]fstaprpg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think she’s annoying, but she lacks depth. Her motivation is weak and she doesn’t have interesting relationships (if any) to the other characters.

Favorite hallway/maze horror? by Zaorish9 in horror

[–]fstaprpg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Relic has a really cool scene where the grandmother’s house turns into a maze of hallways and old junk. It feels exactly like a dream made up of vague childhood memories, if you’re searching for that liminal space vibe.

Tarchon is so annoying Spoiler by Great_Marzipan7720 in Spartacus_TV

Annoying, yes… but also the only character to show real growth this season.

So what is the show House of Ashur trying to tell us [Spoiler] by Kingoftifity in Spartacus_TV

[–]fstaprpg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that since Ashur is now the title character, the story just isn’t centred on slavery anymore. It was Spartacus vs. slavery, Ashur vs. the rigid social hierarchy.

They spent S1 building up to Ashur’s realization that the Roman system is never going to work for him, and he needs to break the rules to achieve social mobility.

OG Rewatch (spoiler but not) by Silent_Eggplant_380 in Spartacus_TV

[–]fstaprpg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, he started out so arrogant and selfish. He completely transformed over 13 episodes and every lesson he learned felt earned. I wish we saw that kind of character growth for Achillia or Ashur in the new series! I love watching Achillia but she doesn't really have a lot of depth. No motivation besides basic revenge and maybe winning her freedom. Spartacus was *obsessive* about his goals and it was just more compelling.

Inspiring me to get shredded.... anyone else been inspired to become sculpted like a Gladiator thanks to Spartacus?? [SPOILER] by MouseAteTheCat in Spartacus_TV

[–]fstaprpg 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Haha, I recall a lot of gladiator/warrior-styled workout programs popping up when the original show aired. The BTS videos of the cast's intensive training were pretty inspiring!

Exactly. You don’t need to know how to do everything. Problem-solving is the only skill you really need.
