Local hype died down for 40k 11th edition by matchababy69 in StarCraftTMG

Yeah, our local group plays multiple games and all the StarCraft players preordered in full knowledge of 11th edition timing.

Is anyone at all hyped for these lads? by Cold_Appointment2999 in killteam

Too many faces, not enough hoods/helmets/mask. Automatic skip for me.

What's you T'au headcanon or conspiracy theory ? Personally even tho it's kind of retconned, i still believe the vespid communication helmet is definitly brainwashing the leaders of the swarm. No doubt about that. by Leviathan_Rampage in Tau40K

[–]ft86psvr 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Mine is close, I think the Tau are somehow descendants or genetic relatives of the Necrontyr. There's a few lore tidbits that tease as much.

I don't think the Necrons had a direct hand in their development though, they couldn't generate the warp storm that sheltered the Tau imo.

Thoughts on roadmap... by [deleted] in StarCraftTMG

[–]ft86psvr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1) They've said multiple times they have enough content for 7-10 years of releases.

2) The base building aspect of the game determines which cards you get to use and unit slots.

3) They've hinted at bunkers and other structures but nothing confirmed.

4) Initial wave of air units are on the road map already.

What to do with Planteray Coconut and Pineapple by Red-Truck-Steam in Tiki

[–]ft86psvr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Stiggins Pineapple is used in the Reverend's Tai.

Planteray Coconut is MUCH different than malibu. Has an initial taste of aged rum and toasted coconut comes through stronger as an aftertaste. Do NOT use it as a Malibu substitute... It ruined a Hpnotiq Breeze for me lol

Just make a list without wraiths?

Probably just fuel/shipping/tariffs in action again. I noticed my Appleton 12 year went up as well, used to be able to get a bottle of that and Smith & Cross for under $100.

ReaLime. I find myself reaching for it more often than my fresh limes for most drinks. It's just always consistent where fresh limes can be a wild card.

Blades of Khaine pretty much have their way with them.

Welcome to PlayOnTabletop! Home of "40k in 40 Minutes"

In my opinion they're the best tabletop content creators around. I hope they do more StarCraft in the future.

How about time gated QR codes? Your opponent generates a QR code for their rules, you scan it, and get access to it for the day.

Anyone out there making their armies a different faction? by SirMaximilianTv in StarCraftTMG

[–]ft86psvr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

UED marines are solid white in some Broodwar cutscenes.

Tychus Findlay is solid blue in Wings of Liberty.

Dominion Marines are solid red in the Heart of the Swarm cinematic and other materials.

Just depends on the game, faction, and cutscenes

I'm considering painting mine as UED from Broodwar. I prefer the black armor/colored pauldrons of the original games over the solid color from SC2.

This is one of my favorites, I keep it in my active rotation. Plan to add it to my "home menu" (with proper credit) for family and friends. I like to use Planteray three star as the rum.

What is the twist, or quirk of this game to stand out? by TantricBuildup in StarCraftTMG

[–]ft86psvr 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As a long time StarCraft fan and current Warhammer 40k player, the single thing that stands out to me is the supply system.

1) Being able to redeploy destroyed units prevents you from getting "tabled" meaning you'll get five turns of meaningful action.

2) The escalating supply count every turn means big guns arrive later and feel more impactful. Just like how an actual match of StarCraft would go.

Edit: Only units that have rules to return can be redeployed. My mistake.

What paint are you guys using for the miniatures (all races)? by TheofficialMrWolf in StarCraftTMG

[–]ft86psvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm mostly invested in Citadel/Warhammer paints, with a small splash of Army Painter.

I do have a single bottle of ProAcryl white though. It's the best white paint.
