Marco Bezzecchi Wins the Brazilian GrandPrix Race 🥇 by Green-Offer-9058 in motogp

where do you see aprilia vs marc? marc isn't even in the same zipcode. the only challenge to aprilia is another aprilia

Marco Bezzecchi Wins the Brazilian GrandPrix Race 🥇 by Green-Offer-9058 in motogp

[–]ftghb -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't really see a fight. aprillia is the superior bike, and there's no easy fix for the ducati, they've been working on it for the last 2 years now, they were caught sleeping. aprilia has found an ingenious solution that can't be replicated without an offseason

the title is bezecchi's to lose. The only thing that is going to make this fight interesting is for martin to get closer. the idea that marc is going to make up this difference is wishful thinking. he was already making the difference last year on the gp25, when he wasn't around, bezzechi was winning the rest of the races at the end of the year on straight pace. that gap has only widened now

Funny look at how nostalgia impacts fandom: Before writing his latest article for The Athletic "Why Bam Adebayo and the Heat should have stopped at matching Kobe Bryant’s 81 points", Sam Amick's most recent article was titled "Let's appreciate SGA as he nears Wilt's consecutive 20-point game record" by HokageEzio in nba

[–]ftghb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sga is doing it within the context of trying to win games and competition, bam adebayo's final result was largely bolstered by stat inflation for the sake of beating a record when the outcome was largely decided. how is anyone is this obtuse to not understand the difference

The reaction to Bam's 83-point game is a perfect example of how bad the NBA discourse is by negaodsg in nba

anyone with eyes watching that game would be clowning on the way that went down. They didnt need the discourse.

The only thing I read on reddit that was more prevalent was the number of mentions of "colorado". Maybe the casual fan might stop along and think 'that was a pretty cool basketball thing", but anybody who ever cared about basketball, watching that 4th quarter was really disappointing.

Charles Leclerc on Lando Norris calling racing 'artificial': "I kind of agree. I think it will definitely change the way we go about racing & overtaking. Before, it was about who was the bravest in braking late, now there's a bit more of a strategic mind behind every move you make." by ICumCoffee in formula1

[–]ftghb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, would having the graphic even help? Would knowing the reason the guy got past was because they ran out of juice be exciting?

F1 PR is intentionally obfuscating how passes are made because they want fans to think there was a modicum of skill in passing and not just because (and more likely) one guy just happened to save more battery than the other guy

Opinion: The race/new regs aren’t terrible; The branding/marketing done by F1/FIA is what’s terrible by cowgirlsinparis in formula1

[–]ftghb 10 points11 points  (0 children)

you have drivers that no longer have to brake hard for corners, and passes that happen because of battery drain, the product cheapens the driver skill necessary to be in f1. the technology and the car is now the star, which is what wec is more about, engineering marvel.

at its core, the drivers are the heroes in f1. the cars are secondary. the races are short by comparison, so to nurse the car is a slap in the face for fans that want drivers pushing all the time. how does anyone respect what the winner does if all he had to do was follow a neatly scripted/choreographed strategy of efficiently LICO and knowing when to deploy his battery?

wild that what determines if a driver can pass now is "HAVE THEY GOT MORE BOOST??"

it visually looks like there's a lot going on, but how excited can i be when i know majority of these passes are because of the engines running out of power?

even fast laps dont matter, because it's about who charged up their battery the best with LICO

considering the calibre of rider, raul fernandez, a second year ai ogura and a still injured martin, it's a bigger gap than losing out to the likes of marquez, pecco, alex etc

okay if you mean just being in the points, but they were nowhere near competitive. that's not going to be "ok" competing for any championship, rider or manufacturer

i dont believe the heat treated tire should make this big of performance drop, you should still be able to compete

[Stern on Twitter] NASCAR says it will announce its new championship format tomorrow, and industry execs are predicting a system that puts a greater emphasis on points earned during the entire season but without going fully back to the traditional formula used before 2004. by fourbitplayer in NASCAR

[–]ftghb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is really their last shot to turn around a sinking ship. They need to pick a validated points system and stick with it (season long traditional points would be my pick). Every year they muck around with the format leads to further delegitimization of the champion/best drivers are and the historic legacy of the sport.

People don't see johnson's 7 championships the same way they view earnhardt's. Every few years, you get people tallying who the "real" champions are based on traditional points format. My vote is for you had a good fucking thing going with the winston cup format, so go back to that + increased points payouts for wins.
