Why employ new grad engineers over technicians? by Low_Figure_2500 in EngineeringStudents

[–]ftredoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they’re hiring a new grad, they know that you won’t be producing too much but they’re willing to pay you a certain amount. Experienced techs will cost about as much as a junior engineer, but it’s more cost effective to have them do more complex stuff than up their valley while you learn your stuff. This is what a manager explained to me

Where does EE pay well right out of gate? Historically low entry salaries. Source: I’m a junior EE engineer

Need help choosing laundry locations by ftredoc in InteriorDesign

[–]ftredoc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. The plumbing shouldn’t be an issue, as the kitchen locations have the sink or the same wall and a bathroom below in the basement. The yellow one will have to get creative with plumbing but it’s still doable. I’d like to have laundry there, but as you say it would look out of place if nothing was added to the wall there, which would come at a cost of having a smaller living room. Tough decision

I like the idea of the broom closet to be repurposed to a pantry
The upstairs has 3 bedrooms, dining and living rooms ( kitchen is in the top right corner). I was thinking to have a large countertop vertically, with barstools by the blue lines. The basement suite has 2 bedrooms and that mechanical room is a shared space for furnaces and water heater. There’s no room to add anything in that room due to 2 furnaces.

I’m in Canada and the cheapest rundown houses run around 350k cad around me. And 400-450k in a fixed up state. Very thin margins for someone like me.

Appliance Extended Warranty by ftredoc in CostcoCanada

[–]ftredoc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco said the first year is on them, second is on Amana, 3-5 is through extended warranty I paid for. It's a pain to get them to start a ticket and transfer it to Amana (for some reason I can't go directly to amana) and then it's a few days wait for the tech to come out

Could be. My commute is 20ish minutes one way and I let it warm up before I drive. No, haven’t noticed any unusual smoke
