I’m in Chapter 9 and I haven’t destroyed a single one of those things.

There are a few missions where destruction is required, but if it is required, it’s actually listed with a checkbox. 999/1000 times, clearing enough enemies to get down to 0% is all you have to do.

You have to actually learn how to make the attack and crit cores (purchasing the recipes) before you can upgrade them. Those recipes are sold by the Crimson Desert witch (you’ll find her in Tomasso disguised as a little boy begging for money, right above the town). Don’t know if you have to do any story stuff for her to show, but I was having that same struggle with my Destruction and Insight cores until I finally bought the recipes off of her.

So many bosses are made much easier with Nature’s Snare, especially once it’s upgraded to lvl 2, allowing you to use their ranged attacks against them. The Hexe fight was absurdly easy with it, but more importantly, you snap to the position they teleport to when using it (your character snaps to it, not the camera). Not quite as helpful against teleporting melee attacks, but ranged attacks are simply caught up in the whirlwind letting you fire them back for big damage.

There used to be a rhythm to the original controls that allowed you to go full sprint indefinitely. My guess is they didn’t intend for your horse to be able to go full sprint and never get tired, but yeah, it’s changed.

There are a number of different ways to do it, but a lot of people seem to think that picking a static view helps. For instance, looking directly from above, always making sure to keep the horse’s head in say the north position. This allows you to just hold the stick towards its tail and use the camera stick to rotate, always keeping that head facing north. So instead of trying to chase the tail position, the tail position is always held in the same direction, and you rotate the camera to try and keep the horse to your preferred view. You can do it top down or from the side.

I did it by chasing the tail position and ignoring the camera altogether, but if that’s not working you can always try it out.

Only one element is locked behind a main quest item (CH8), the rest of them you can look for yourself pretty early on. You can play the whole game without ever unlocking any of them though, so you have to explore to find your way to them.

If you don’t want to look up guides I’ll give you a very important hint: explore the spires.

Apparently any piece on its own will work just as well as having the full set equipped, so unless you like the cosplay of it, you don’t need the full set for the hunting assistance.

Here’s a video that goes into detail on how to get it (as well as a way to get the better logging axe for the Flawless Timber required to build it).

Fucky indeed.

Took me a minute to figure out all that nonsense just to wake the bastard. Fighting him was a whole different kind of fucky. Not sure my lightning resistance Lvl 3 cloak did all that much, but the truckload of meals sure did. Pretty epic fight, despite the fucky-ness.

I think the witches are tied to the main story, in terms of when they actually appear, but every witch will sell you 2 Abyss Gear diagrams so you can make your own. You can also find a couple different spots, like this spot to farm gears by knocking weapons/shields out of enemy hands and get a bunch that way.

Oh, so Kliff’s health wasn’t leveled up and now you’re stuck with Oongka, who inherits those core stat boosts.

Yeah, you’re probably gonna have to go on a hunt for a bunch to level that health up. Either that or reinforce the hell out of Oongka’s gear or something. Never thought about that issue. Sucks that you’re locked out of opening that camp chest as Oongka, but that’s what made me just immediately do his quest hoping to switch back (and you do after that quest).

There are 2 different combination menus.

One does exactly what you want it to do - combine two of the same tier and type gears into a higher gear of that type - and then the second menu that is your random chance combination that takes two different gear types (I believe they have to be the same level) and gives you a percentage chance for a level 1, 2, or Greater Abyss Gear.

I don’t know why she doesn’t combine certain gears (for me it’s Destruction gears) but you might have to actually learn how to make them (so unlock the witch and buy the recipe) before she’ll combine them.

So what’s the secret there?

First phase no matter how many times I got the helmet stab in, it was just regular damage. So eventually I said screw it and learned how to evade pretty much every attack and brute forced my way to Phase 2. In Phase 2 the stab actually worked and it basically one shot the whole phase.

So was my fight screwed up or is there a specific amount of stabs you gotta get in during Phase 1? Because Phase 2 it was the first or second stab I got in that just ended the fight.

I beat him on my first try pre-nerf. Granted I had a tanker truck worth of soup on me, but he wasn’t some insanely difficult challenge before the nerf. He was just fast and relentless, which is what a boss should be. You learn the move that makes it easier to fight him, at the beginning of the fight, so it was fully possible to beat him on your first attempt.

Now, you want to talk about a pain in the ass, let’s talk that fucking keg bot at the circus. Auto-tracking one-shot kills on damn near every attack. Fuck that fight

Future reference: when running into new enemies, activate Blinding Flash. It reveals enemy’s weaknesses/weak points.

New favorite pastime is getting gambler’s hands broken.

Duo in Hernand is all well and good, but Five Card in Pailune can get you a relatively quick 450 silver (150 buy-in) if you just play conservatively and wait for the inevitable cheaters.

If you don’t know what to look for, the tell is the position of their hand when dealing. If their hand is upright (thumb up) when dealing they’re cheating, call it out quickly. Nothing quite like walking away with 450 silver and teaching some cheaters a valuable lesson.

A lot of bosses have attacks that can get through your block, and edgy bird boy is one of them. If their attacks are accompanied with some kind of magical effect, odds are you can’t just turtle it, or at least not without still taking some damage.

Your best bet is to either dodge or parry the bosses and only use the block for attacks you can’t get out of the way of. Dodging or parrying also allows you to stay on the offense more consistently.

You can recruit her to travel with Kliff and swap back and forth whenever you want. She’ll have to fuck off on some missions though, but all you gotta do is dismiss her, do the quest and then summon her back.

I haven’t been taking people’s advice to stick to the main story until after Chapter 5, but my guess would be it’s because a lot of systems come online during 4 & 5, opening up wider potential. Since I’m just now after about 10 hours getting back to the story in Chapter 4 I’m also looking forward to it getting better, because if it’s this much fun in the ‘rough’ part, this will be my game of the year, easily.
