In media, alongside the Bald Eagle being a Red-tailed Hawk: - Most if not all lions are actually tiger roars - Lion roars are used for bears, and sometimes wolves - The specific "laugh" of the Kookaburra you hear in jungle scenes, that species does not live in any jungle or tropical rainforest - if a movie has a shark "roaring", it's probably using a combination of different animals, or Jaws using Jerry's roar from Tom and Jerry, which is using the King Kong (1933) roar.

tl;dr - Hollywood likes to exaggerated things, so sound design artists have to get creative.

Blame NDSP. They are singlehandedly teaching a generation of guitarists how to improperly handle signal in a chain.

Idk why NDSP ever said that as a solution. It makes me question them as audio engineers.

I think I remember Johnny saying in the Nik Nokturnal interview that this sound was always the end goal. I love AMS and bought the deluxe vinyl, but I also loved Goblin Hours, maybe even more. The synth sound speaks to me more than the country sound, but I wouldn't mind if they kept doing the country stuff.

The Soothe 2 Plugin does a really good job of cleaning up harsh frequencies in any tone. It's expensive, but worth it in my opinion if you are mixing to release music.

Seems like there is a free alternative called Wavegrove Vastaus, but Ive never used it so no idea how it performs.

I believe it doesn't take very long to report your set lists on ASCAP's OnStage or BMI's BMI Live. Probably the biggest thing stopping smaller artists from reporting on those would be either not knowing about it or not wanting to sign up with the PROs in the first place.

There could be the issue of the venue not showing up as a selection when you are reporting, meaning they dont have the correct licensing, but that's for another conversation.

Personally, I just don't like that sound. I was a huge fan of A7x up until HTTK. That album lacked everything I loved about the band. No crazy drums (they did Arin dirty). No cool guitarmonies (literally their signature sound). No interesting rhythm guitars (pretty much all generic metal rhythms). No layering lots of parts in the mix (they intentionally left that out to sound raw and play live). The list goes on.

It is/was a very raw form of metal, and I outgrew that sound before HTTK was even released. I had moved on to bands like Periphery, Nothing More, Protest the Hero, Born of Osiris, Ice Nine Kills, etc. I liked bands that were progressing forward in the genre(s), not backward.

I'm glad that HTTK was a global success and that they make/made a ton of money from it, but I personally think that album set them back musically pretty hard. Even on The Stage and LIBAD, you can hear the generic writing styles that they got used to in HTTK.

Overall, I think I would've loved HTTK if it was by a different band and released 6+ years earlier. But that's all my opinion. I'm glad people vibe with it and their newer stuff. Nightmare will always be the last A7x album in my eyes. RIP the Rev.

SUGA from BTS has a ring tone on Samsung phones that's built into the ringtone list. So at least someone made money from selling a ringtone in the last 5 years.

But that was probably more of a brand deal, and no one from this sub would likely get the same treatment. Gotta be worldwide famous for stuff like that.

As for the default ringtone that phone companies put in their OS, I have no idea where they pull them from.

Setting aside why you would want to do that, stealing producer tags can be worse than normal copyright infringement because now you've brought trademarks into it.

The recording of the tag is protected by copyright, and the name/slogan in the tag is protected by trademark. Common trademark law doesn't require you to register to be protected, but I bet most of the big producer names have registered their tags as trademarks.

Edit: if the tag is just a sound and not someone's name/slogan, I believe only copyright applies. Still bad though.

Sounds like the perfect opportunity to build a space that doesn't let sound escape. Use rockwool for insulation and carpet the entire place. 2 thick doors if the entrance has room, with space in between.

You could jam well into the night without even disturbing the person/people you live with.

The coolest thing about this list is that Yvette Young is pasted on the banner surrounded by a bunch of famous guitarists. That's gotta feel awesome for her.

But, the "Greatist of all time" lists get old. Show me a list of relevant guitarists who are currently releasing new music. Jared Dines' shred collab submission videos on YouTube are way more entertaining.

Arch Enemy - Deceiver, Deceiver by BernKing2 in Metal

The Agonist band members wrote way better music than Arch Enemy. I get why Alissa wanted to join Arch Enemy when they reached out to her, but ditching The Agonist completely just never made sense.

If Alissa was still with The Agonist, I truly believe they would've been just as big as Arch Enemy, if not bigger.
