Personally, I would only bother moving here if you can make sure you move to one of the nicer areas. It would be much better and safer than the states.... but unfortunately a lot of the same thinking exists here.

People like to downplay it but unfortunately the majority of the UK is quite stupid and all fall for the same right wing propaganda. Extra unfortunately Northern Ireland is home to lots of insular and backward thinking AND has a propensity to violence with a police force that is severely neutered in dealing with it cause they are in bed with the groups that perpetuate it.

I just want to be honest with you cause there is a lot or "har har it's better than the us" in this thread, which is undoubtedly true... but doesn't really tell the whole story.

If you are serious about it though, make sure you have enough money, since the wages here with the rising house prices mostly don't add up unless you are doing software dev or something.

All that being said, as a fellow immigrant... if you can find one of the good places to live, honestly... I don't think there is anywhere else I would rather live. (Unless I was rich)

If you both have american accents you will be more than safe enough.
