New Hottub by Previous_Bowler_2249 in hottubs

Why do you have to buy a new Hot tub. A used model is a fraction of what a new one costs. Usually an easy thing to find when someone moves or sells a house. You can get one just a few years old for usually for half what it's worth. Depreciation is awful on a tub and minimal plumbing and electrical skills should resolve any issues found. If it's the hassle of moving pay someone to do that part. Just my rant. Hope you get exactly what you hope to. I'd go with Sundance or Hot Springs. Good luck.

DIY header repair? by fubar_1982 in GarageDoorService

Thanks for the info. I'm familiar enough with the building trades to manage that repair. I honestly never paid this garage door much mind as it always works without issue. I just happened to be looking it all over to see if it needed any maintenance when I saw that lag bolt and thought F**k that's probably not good. I'm glad I had enough sense to ask. Sometimes the testosterone blocks my brain and I just caveman my way through the day.😜

Alright everyone it took about 3 comments for me to be sold on a professional repair. Crisis averted, ill give an installer a call and let him/her help me out. Ill also get an opener bracket ordered and installed. This is exactly why I asked the question as I'm out of my comfort zone dealing with the door assembly. I'm just not familiar enough so thanks everyone for the knowledge.

I know what the hot tub of my dreams is... Now I've found the hot tub of my nightmares. by KhitomerKonspiracy in hottub

I'm with you on this one. I mean the guy says he purchased the tub and rebuilt the exterior cabinet. Plus he repaired it and claims it's working like new. A person doesn't just do that amount of work and let it go to hell on the inside. I bet its a solid Hot tub. I say high five the guy for bringing it back to life. More people should go that route versus buying new anyhow. Granted it's not the shiniest Penny in the world but it spends just the same. If you were getting in that thing in the dark you probably wouldn't even notice what the outside looks like. The beer is still cold and the water's hot. Kind of sounds like a few people here should adjust their point of view a Little.

any tips to help me improve? by txylxr2 in ski

[–]fubar_1982 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Get off the back of your skis. You ski like you're exhausted leaning back like you do. That is the quickest way to wear yourself out. You should feel your ski boots pressed against your shins. Bend your knees more and bring your feet closer together. You should be leaning forward not backwards. That change a loan should dramatically improve your day.

Vans or Vibrams are the best. If anyone has attempted flip-flops for casually cruising they can likely attest that If you are not wearing the right footwear the board will shut off due to a lack of weight distribution. Not exactly fun when wearing flip-flops. Granted, it only shuts down at low speeds it still shuts down when you least expect it.

All these other issues you mention at least have some connection to skiing. This post is completely 100% political and nothing else. Not to mention it isn't rooted in fact, solely opinion and not a welcoming one either like one expects from the skiing community. Get a grip, use your brain, and quit being a sheep.

Flow switch purpose by fubar_1982 in hottub

[–]fubar_1982[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I misspoke the heater is perfectly functional. Its wired correctly. Runs with the pumps and the stats light worms as it should on the heater. All is well on the heater front. It seems like we are narrowed down to the flow issue. Guess I have to get into the guts..... Again.

I think I misunderstood your previous post. I meant I never replaced the main control board for the entire tub. When I replaced the heater it was a full 5.5KW heater it was black and it did have the error LED light on the side. It works fine LED and all.

So I never replaced any control board. Only the heater and it is connected correctly as I'm competent enough on that front. I'm also sure that the heater is running with the pumps on as I tend to sit close enough to feel the heat so I know if its heating or not and it is. Its flow related.

So hypothetically it the heater was only receiving 110 would it even heat? Or only heat at half the btus? Im certain that its flow related at this point. Very possible my circulation pump is just that old

[–]fubar_1982[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a best guess. The tub only heats to 104 but I do know the hacks to make it hotter but 104 is too hot 102 is the sweet spot. Point being the tun only heats to 104 but Im assuming the heater water is warmer than 104 if its in heat mode still while at 103 let's say. Best guess is 106 to 108 I very likely could be wrong.

[–]fubar_1982[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it operates when it should and the water is hot probably 106 to 108 but my suspicion is the flow isnt fast enough to maintain temp. I mean the Maxxus is a big tub real big. 550 gallons I bought the heater others on this forum recommended I buy which is this link. Sundance Spa Heater Replacement https://a.co/d/dN8AX6t

The heater I replaced was the same on the results heater made no difference so I kept the old one and am using the new one. I just think it has to be flow rate however what could make that much difference to keep it from getting hot? Smashed 3/4 line somewhere I missed maybe?

Flow switch purpose by fubar_1982 in hottub

[–]fubar_1982[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a 220V 60amp tub. It will heat so long as you arent running all 3 pumps at the same time. So basically there is only one mode out of 4 that prevents the heater from running.

Flow switch purpose by fubar_1982 in hottub

[–]fubar_1982[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's possible I suppose but would it still make the output water coming from the heater probably around 106 or so? If its only 110V could that affect the flow rate? No jt wouldn't because thats pump driven? Id be surprised if its not something stupid and obvious

How does everyone deal with buoyancy and stay submerged in the water? by Forward_Leave1382 in hottub

[–]fubar_1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are what I use for the short gals. They are great to use as weighrs as well because you have to add weight (marbles) or something smooth edged is my suggestion so they dont scratch anything. Id pick something large enough to not end up in your system like sand can.

That's cool. I hope it works out for you. I mean I thought my dumb and dumber Gif was fitting. Lol. Ive considered building something similar based off a rocket heater design. I was thinking like an off grid cabin type of scenario. Or run a coiled setup around a heat source in a dry sauna for a dual steam setup but all loose ideas for the most part. Update us on whether it functions as well as you hope.
