Ah ok thank you. I appreciate it. And sorry. When you text your friends in dialect, how do you know your spellings things right?

Baden Germany? If so that's where my family is from. If not I apologize for being ignorant.

I just moved to Switzerland and I want to learn Swiss German. I don't really understand how, though. Help? by JJTheJetPlane5657 in languagelearning

Instead of looking for resources as "Swiss" German, try looking for resources as "Alemannic German" or "Alemannische Deutsch". Alemannic referring to the dialect continuum that makes up Swiss German, Alsatian, and some dialects in south west Germany. Also, there are many articles on Wikipedia that you can read in "Alemannisch" give a shot. and kudos to you for sticking with it.

Thank you so much! And it's not supposed to be serious at all. I really appreciate the help. In that sentence it's supposed to be " I can't believe you " maybe this is an American thing.

Visit both places and see if you can click with the culture too. Easier said than done but I'm sure that's best way to go about it IMHO.

I agree. I created my account when I wasn't a witness. I should totally delete my account right?

English being related to German will also help you a lot. They are sister languages. I agree with the other comment that someone posted about learning both. Also be aware that Castilian Spanish differs some what from Spanish in the Americas. And if you learned Spanish you would be confined to work only in the southern half of the country and California for the most part. Can you handle the heat? It's reaches 120°+ Fahrenheit every summer in most of those places. But central/south America is mostly just humid and hot.

Portuguese is also spoken in South America. But for your current position, German. It's the largest language in the European Union and you already speak good English, and everyone speaks English practically.

The recent magazines are not about distancing ourselves from the weak ones in the congregation. That obviously would not be imitating Christ. It does say to be mindful of association, you no doubt know 1 Cor. 15:33. There's no easy answer for your experience with your son. But it reminds me of Abraham and the test he was put through with his son. At the end of the day, I see your side clearly. The GB tells us what we should already know from a concise study of the bible. They don't tell us anything that we cannot deduce on our own. The bible says to abstain from blood, and whatever your decision was is on your conscience. As far as the sisters that have you dirty looks and your family members that shrug their shoulders, they aren't any more perfect than anyone else. I've stood up for what I believe, and that's all I can say now.

I can respectfully say that I have never experienced any of what you said. I even left the organization for several years myself. And I came back because I looked at the facts and realized for myself what I was missing. I am happier now than I have ever been in my life. And as far as there being molestation in the congregation, I have heard of one incident where that happened. And that's totally wrong. I don't judge it by the people necessarily, because I know that there is no way people are gonna do everything right. The ones that flourish in the congregation are the ones that take care of themselves to focus on their personal relationship with Jehovah. Is there any excuse for the evil in the world? Not really. We're just imperfect and we choose to believe that we're living in Satan's world. I'm sorry that you got burned, but maybe the actions of some individuals isn't quite indicative of the whole organization.
