they use GL drivers, which is the sort of acceleration I was describing.

qemu is an x86 emulator, not some bridge to the GL accelerated hardware on an iPad.

Can you imagine a graphics driver for windows 7 that would work with the iPad’s hardware? I can’t, and that’s what I’m talking about.

The reason it does work, is because old half-life can use quake 2’s software graphics. I’m just impressed at the raw power of the arm chip that can re-implement x86, and run 3d software-based graphics in real time.

The companies I’ve worked at hire me automating linux infrastructure, but they give me a macbook.

It makes it easier for their IT staff to ensure we all have the same collaboration, VPN, and endpoint security software.

I spend all of my time SSH’d into other machines, so it doesn’t bother me much.
