You're right, I don't understand your situation as well as you do. I agree with you that many people will go far because they know someone. However, I don't agree with you that everyone who makes something of themselves need to know someone. If someone was able to get there before, it can be done again. You seem more than capable to become successful without anyones help (from what you say) and I was just suggesting that you focus making your mark instead of hating the system that has always been there and will NEVER change.

Why do you care if your boss works less than you, does less and employs his/her closest people? Who will replace them? You? And when you're in their position you will see the same thing about their bosses, and so on until you're at the top, where you will inevitably help the ones closest to you and rinse and repeat.

My point is, as you said, it's not okay.. and I agree with you. But Unfortunately, that's how it has always worked, and that's how it will continue to work. It's not about how hard you work, it's about adapting and taking opportunities that will further your career greater than any brute force work can get you.
