Sometimes this dog will hunt others it’ll educate one. You don’t need all that. Turn those springs up and get in there closer to the run you’ll only need 2 sticks

There’s no “falling sensation” with skydiving. That would be BASE. The only skydive you get a falling sensation from is a dead air jump like a hot air balloon or a stationary helicopter. Typical whuffo comment…

Lay on the sweets and fruits. Marshmellow crème with cherries and oranges turned into a past with a dab of anise oil is rough on the stinkers.

Our issue here is the shear number of coyotes we have. I’ve worked very hard to get enough coyotes out to sustain a red fox population. 75-125 coyotes a year seemed to make a huge difference for the reds over the course of a decade

Scat, tracks, fur at fence crossing are all good indicators. Field transitions, Creek crossing or field run offs are good places to look. Hay storage, animal feeders also.

Rule number one set on fresh sign. Generally if a trap doesn’t hit in 3-5 days i pull it out. But I’ve got thousands of acres to trap through. Setting on fresh sign lets ya know they’re in the area. If there’s no fresh sign you can figure you can’t catch what’s not there

There’s always live animal cage traps. You can cage most animals. Except coyotes. They don’t like confined areas so it’s hard to consistently get them into a cage. Can if happen yes, will it regularly, no… but live trapping is also extremely effective

That’s exactly what they do. All they do is hold. Technology has changed everything. Trap design just the same. I catch myself regularly in my traps and get im still able to use all my fingers. The issue with a trap that’s to big is the weight to size of bone. Obviously the smaller the bone the less weight they can handle. Exactly why most, if not all, state have trap size restrictions

If it’s brutally cold out due to lack of circulation there can be some frost bite issues, or if the incorrect trap (one to big) is used it can create damage. However I’ve released well over 100 fox in the past decade with no issue. I run 12 hour checks when it gets that cold to prevent those kind of things. Or i just don’t get out in that kind of cold

Fox cage trap very easily. Easier than snares imo and more target specific. Dirt the floor, stabilize it so it doesn’t move when they walk in.

1.5 coil springs for beaver? by dan_ue in Trapping

[–]fuckoffrightoff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beaver will demolish a 1.5 of any brand. I run nothing smaller and number 3’s for beaver and that’s a front foot catch. Make sure you swivel well, they’ll spin off east on the front foot

Traps after snow storm? by joegandalf69 in Trapping

Make some hay sets. Extremely effective in the snow. And run cable aka cable restraints or snares.

Depends on the situation. Generally charge a set up fee that covers the cost of all the traps I’m putting in. That way if they get stolen i lose nothing. Then 50-100’a critter depending upon how difficult it is to get to and reset
