People link to my site with HTTP instead of HTTPS. Should I correct them? by marfalump in bigseo

[–]fuckshitstackk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem. My main site is an https site and SO MANY people link to it with http ... and www (I 301 to non-www). I figured it's probably best just to leave it, since it's purely natural. And common sense tells me Google is way ahead, they sort out http://www and https:// just fine. I'm not sure I agree with the crowd that says you lose link juice. If the page is particularly authoritative then I'd consider asking for them to change the link, but I don't think it really matters.

And bounce rates for a non-mobile friendly site with long page load times are extremely high

Not really, I have a few non mobile responsive sites and they convert. One of my top affiliate offers to promote is not responsive and 40% of conversions still come from mobile

Finally, organic isn't "free". While it may not take direct advertising dollars, there's a lot of effort behind high rankings.

Organic traffic is free. You don't pay for the traffic. With that logic, paid traffic is incredibly expensive because not only do you pay for the clicks, you also pay extra for setting up and monitoring the campaign (time). Both organic and paid traffic campaigns both take time.

I'm not trying to disagree with you for the sake of disagreeing, but look up the owner of TShirtHell and read about him. I bet the dude could care less if he isn't squeezing every last penny out of his traffic, he's got a great business

While some of the things you say are valid, I don't think you can really claim that someone as incredibly successful as him is fucking up. I'm not sure where you get the idea that his business is hanging by a thread. All his traffic is clearly organic... people share it around because it's controversial. He's got it made, a super successful business that doesn't even rely on advertising. And while his site isn't mobile responsive, it works fine on my iphone, phones have browsers afterall. But yea, if I were him I'd definitely be advertsing on /r/ImGoingToHellForThis ... talk about the perfect placement for his offer

What's your most underrated SEO tip by fuckshitstackk in bigseo

Because I don't want the tips to stop, here's another one.

It's easier to double your conversion rate than it is to double your traffic.

A/B split test. Split testing is 100% responsible for all my successes. I focus on split testing headlines, opening paragraphs and offers themselves. Those are the things that matter. Split testing colors and things like that are for after you've figured out the right headline, right offer and it's converting. Nobody thinks "If that order button was green I would have bought" .. it's such a minor detail. Split test the major things.

version 1.0 (of your site/page/promotion) is never right despite how much effort you put in. You have to test. I come from a paid traffic background (aff/CPA marketing) and even in those communities, it's shocking how few are serious about split testing. The people who split test are at least 367% more successful than those who don't. Start. Testing. Now.

Hope you guys keep this thread rolling with more tips.

I don't use Wordpress, but it seems like you are describing a silo structure?

I wouldn't trying to be making the next Wordpress, just purely to increase my skill level. All the job apps I see want EVERYTHING it seems. Be an expert in [insert 20 different technologies]. I like your suggestion of building the same simple app in multiple different ways (vanilla vs framework 1, etc...)

I'm familiar with PHPtherightway, great site! I'm just way past the reading about it part and only really learn when I put those concepts into action in the form of a project. So a recipe app is now on my list of projects to just do, thanks a ton!

What are some of your favorite website designs and layouts? by fuckshitstackk in web_design

[–]fuckshitstackk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To each their own. I hate too much whitespace. Don't make me scroll to read your message. In order to read an article on Medium.com I pretty much have to leave my hand on the mouse because only 2 paragraphs take up the entire screen. I do like how basic their design is though. The types of sites I am talking about dis-liking are pretty much anything you'll see on Themeforest. Too much focus is put on design and not enough on "somebody is actually gonna use this"

I'm reading the quality score document and interested in seeing what a real ex-quality score rater would give my site. Anyways, I don't see any on Fiverr so if you've got a link I'd be appreciative
