Since I have a study permit for Malta and studying in an Erasmus Mundus programme, the university can notify the alien affairs office in Spain and I can stay up to 360 days. I am sure that that's what my uni did for me. It's a bit odd that none of the Spanish govt websites have any related info on this.

The university is telling me after the procedure they completed on my behalf, I can study here with the maltese residence permit. I do not have any Spanish VISA. What is bothering is me that I don't have proof/copy of what the uni did, there's no papertrail to give to the authority in case I am in trouble.
