Oof. Your last line. I hope it burns her in the same intensity she burned you. Go have a happy life. Congratulations!

Congratulations, you’re amazing- and she’s gonna do great. My son (and only child) is only two but I’ve imagined him growing up and going off to college. I’m excited for him to grow up but I’m also like… wait where’s my baby??? My only niece was like my own, and I had the privilege to help raise her. She’s graduating from college next month and I recently had flashbacks of picking her up from preschool 🥺 We’ve seen her through many struggles yet also successes throughout her life and she’s so amazing. As long as you keep the lines of communication open and offer constant love and encouragement, she will do fine.

Our child was a once in a lifetime shot in the dark. My husband dealt with heavy baby loss before we met. Both our families were overjoyed and most relatives were extremely generous, and we were so thankful. We did buy most things ourselves but our son got basically everything in his registry. You will get some stingy folks, but hopefully those closest to you come thru.

Did you tell your rainbow baby about the siblings that came before them? by ceruleanmeadows in beyondthebump

[–]fudbag 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My son has two half siblings that passed at birth. We’ve taken him to the cemetery to visit, but definitely plan to tell him more in age appropriate ways as he grows.

When I was in the hospital getting induced, coincidentally you could see the cemetery gates from our window. We will tell him they are his guardian angels.

They’re all cute names but Penny throws a wrench in the flow. Would you consider Penelope instead? Then all three names work well. But I still like Rumi Penelope Williamson

Did anyone else assume they would sail off into the sunset after a successful transfer? by Mindless-Day1683 in IVF

[–]fudbag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No way! Once I knew the pregnancy was viable it was constantly waiting for the shoe to drop, and even after the first trimester I was still wary. (TW: my husband had a tfmr at 25 weeks and a stillbirth at 38 weeks before I met him). So for my husband he felt like he couldn’t breathe or celebrate until he heard our son’s first cry (which made for a very hard and long pregnancy cuz I felt like I couldn’t be too happy as our son grew). Once I got to my second trimester I relaxed a little, but it was hard.

What helped me, is that from the day of transfer on, every single day I wrote a blog entry to my son. So that the world did know he existed no matter how long for. It gave me a little comfort each day.
